I remember the falling and skidding and pain of my broken collar bone all too well.
:(
Anyway, not tempted to customise the logo to BELL-end?
-
• #903
No. Why would I want bell end on there? 🛎
Team design planned. 🤘🏻

And if your helmet wasn't there you'd have skidded on your scalp most likely. Little bit of skin and hair gone. So it did its job.
-
• #905
Yeah, I never said it didn't do its job. It's still capable of doing its job though.

Time to speak to the sponsors...

• #907
@Smallfurry the poc looks good dude...
My fav helmet ATM.

• #908
Haha! Unfortunately, I'm not pro enough for free helmets. £100 is the discounted sponsor price. They're £200 RRP :(

Did the first sanding stage yesterday. The scratches are disappearing and you can't feel them with the fingertips now. Still need to do a bit more sanding to remove some of the spots of top layer I missed the first time round.
It's a slow process but I have time and hopefully someone might find it helpful in the future.

Anybody ever tried a Kask Lifestyle or seen one in the flesh? I'm currently riding a bike with a touring rack and little wheels. And I feel a bit of a idiot in a Kask Mojito. Would this be an alternative, or is it a terrible idea?
-

I'd probably stick with your Mojito, at least in the summer. Doesn't appear to be much venting in the Lifestyle ? Depends on how sweaty your head gets I guess.
If it's an image/style thing, I wouldn't worry about it. Helmets tend to make most people look silly regardless of design.Do people ride with visor helmets in London ? Not seen anyone wear one in Brum yet.
Does the queue in an asl look like this ?

Oh, its only because I'm vain, and its an image/style thing... The bike is a hefty beast with a big bad on the back and I feel a bit of a prat in a white Mojito. Its even worse when I'm a full kit wanker!

You will certainly look like a muppet in this.

Looking like a track sprinter is more ridiculous than looking like someone wearing a normal helmet.

I think they've got them in LMNH if you want to try one on in person. I do think it's a bit off having a big visor no a city style helmet.

How many thousands of watts will I save going from a Vertigo to a Synthe?

Giro aspect?

Im about to shell out for a kask mojito for £65. Anything else to consider at this price. My main concern is airflow. I've got a hot bonce.

Lazer Blade. I just bought one to replace an old Spec Echelon. Slightly narrower fit than a Mojito, which is good for me, excellent ventilation and pretty light for the money.
-
• #920
Good choice.
Lazer OK also.
-
• #921
Mojitos are hot AF. I would go lazer.
-
• #922
I went lazer as i found it for £35.

Anybody used the aero shell for the Lazer Blade? I'm not concerned with the aero but it looks like it could be useful for cold/wet. I don't really like wearing a hat under a helmet.

So my wife helpfully left my helmet in a taxi the other night so I'm on the market for a new lid. For reference my old helmet was the Specialized evade, so aero is my preference.
I went to sigma an tried on the following (all in medium) and here are my conclusions
Specialised evade - well made, but starting to look a bit dated and quite heavy
Met manta - very light and compact, but shit padding (a bit scratchy) generally quite cheap feel
Kask protone - light, very comfortable and well made, but not 'aero' enough for my tastes
Kask infinity - heavy and gimmicky reasonably comfortable
Giro Synthe - light and comfortable (but not as comfortable as protone) look aero(ish) although apparently isn't. Mainly seems like a waste of money
Bontrager ballista - surprisingly light, similar profile to evade but simpler and arguably better looking (in black) nice paddingSo I was going to buy the ballista, but it is totally sold out!

Helmet aero is based on so much more than "this one is more than this one" go with what fits well and you like the look off
Well, it didn't "save" my head as I didn't bang my head. It is just a little scratched as I skidded along the tarmac. I remember the falling and skidding and pain of my broken collar bone all too well.
Anyway, this is the stage I'm at. Masked off all the expanded foam and areas I don't want to paint and I'm about to gently sand down the shell to allow the paint to adhere better to the surface. I'm using a water based spray paint that won't damage the foam either.
If it fucks up then that's fine, I'll use another helmet, I just don't feel great about throwing another £100 at a helmet just yet...
