  • Seems like it's going to be Evade Vs. Octal now. Both a bit roomier than my old Mojito in the Large sizes. Both about the same price online. Evade seems more aero and less bulky. Octal better ventilation and better glasses retention system. Both straps comfy. Poc has some funky colours.

  • Evade.

  • Because?

  • You don't want to look like a bell end.

  • Its true, those pocs >>>>>>>>>>>>>

  • Sooo I took a tumble today, was wearing my helmet which hit the deck. The outer casing is scraped but can't see any damage to the polystyrene core. Replacement time?

  • Ah hoped that wouldn't be the case but thought it would be, cheers

  • Any helmet companies run a crash replacement scheme?

  • Most of them I think

  • Helmet recommendation for a big head please?

  • Poc Octal and Specialized Evade in Large both fit up to 62 / 63cm. I have a large head and they're both very comfy.

Giro Savant XL is up to 65cm I think. Check Wiggle.

  • Merci

  • Not using my lazer genesis and white mojito so up for sells.

Kask is Medium and Lazer is large/xl. The Lazer has been significantly less.

Kask is 210g and in used condition but I look after my kit. Lazer is 310g which is noticeable when wearing.

    £30 quid each.

Posting here then the clusterfuck that is classifieds...

  • £132 for a POC Octal raceday. Yay or nay?

  • definitely nay. They look awful. Apparently have really good safety tech though...

Maybe try a Protone - Dov sorted me one after I crashed my Vertigo. It's really nice and not as hot as the other Kask's I've had.

  • I like them. There, I said it.

Protones are too £££ for me.

  • They look like someone took some polystyrene television packaging, attached a strap and called it a helmet.

Just checked the RRP for Protone. Lolz. I did not pay that.

  • Haven't tried a large Protone yet as they were only available in medium for ages, but the Poc and Evade were both very comfy. Poc seemed super-light, and the glasses retention system and straps are very good, but the front of the helmet seemed quite low and I could just about see it when wearing, which was a little distracting.

Will go for Evade when I can find one on sale, or a discount code which works on Specialized items.

  • Anyone know where I could try a MIPS Octal on in London?

  • Evades look appalling - if you're not racing you'd be mad to pay for one.

  • The same could be said for any helmet in that price range. I'll go with whichever is the comfiest.

  • I think sigmasport

When my catlike whispers die I'll buy a POC road helmet, their MIPS mtb helmet is the most comfortable noggin protector I have ever used.

  • I tried the standard Octal on but (just like Kasks) they wobble on my head, I have heard that the MIPS changes the fit, so might be worth trying.
