i want one of these
but i couldn't live with the conflicting emotions wearing it pootling around RP.My friend has a hookup and is sending me a Giro Air Attack. I am pretty stoked about it, I think I can live with the conflicting emotions wearing it pootling around B.
Also without the face shield it looks more commuter/hockey helmet than aero TT, so if it is embarrassing it is embarrassing on those levels. We'll see. It has to be better than my current 6yo Bell with cat bites in the styrofoam.
BTW I hear* those Casco helmets are a bit shit as far as protecting your head in a collision goes. I saw lots while watching the track worlds though so probably good from an aero perspective. Or at least they give money to track cycling which is cool.
- from that same biased homie. But I guess they don't pass the US standards (just the weaker EU ones).

It looks fine without the sheild.
The fit system is brilliant. Although I gather thats on all to top shelf Giro helmets.

Good to hear, thanks! I am eagerly waiting although with my luck the day before it arrives I will suffer a brutal collision and my cat bite helmet will split in two and leave me (even more) brain damaged.

Lazer Z1 is looking good.

What helmets dont make your head look massive?
I tried a few Giro ones and felt ridiculous, I liked the catlike whisper but it didnt feel great on my head. Other options sub £100?

Lazer helmets and the pricier Kask ones are pretty low profile. Also seen a few people at the track with the Louis Garneau helmets - which are so compact they look a bit like old school sausage helmets.

Kask Rapido? Probably going to be my next helmet.
£65 (and will buy via the forum!) -

kask rapido is smart, good shout.

Louis Garneau helmets...
Some of these are really shit and fall apart (models from ~ 2 years back). I don't know if they're now better.

A friend had a white one out last night. We decided it looked like Lego had got into cycling. I actually think they look alright with a visor – it's certainly an aero helmet but less silly than the Specialized aero-road lid that looks as if H.R. Giger had got into cycling.

specialized helmets (at least my prevail and my mates s3) are compact.

Ones that come in lots of shell sizes.

this is not true. Spesh helmets are the biggest, ugliest, bulkiest helmets you can buy. Pretty much the one thing they don't do really well IMO.

Agreed. I would like one for racing in, I would feel like a total prat wearing it at any other time.. but can't really justify the outlay

:(
I'm not a fan of the company or their products in general but their helmets fit me way better than any other brand I've tried. I'm on an s3 currently and it's nice.
Is anyone making aftermarket covers road helmets? Everyone is messing with clingfilm and electical tape... someone should just vacuum form some acrylic and make some money!

Not true. I tried a million helmets (no exageration) and the spesh was the most compact. Possibly because it was the only one that size small fit on my head. Spesh small goes up to 57cm whereas most other brands are up to 55cm.

Its no different than having 56mm deep carbon tubs as your only wheels. Definitely a 'I think I'm fast' look.

Being a genius I left my helmet in Norway (sorry SF, it's in your hall on a peg).
Therefore I need a new one, tell me which one I should get so I don't have to think for myself.

I'm also looking for a new lid - but I want ventilation. Why am I doing 20 mph but not feeling a single bit of breeze on my head? Giro and Spesh all have the same pseudo-ventilation. Catlike Whispers?

Rob Hatch described Nairo Quintana's Catlike as being "at the cutting edge or ventilation".
I thought they just had a lot of holes and rad styling for the slavebeik crew. The 5th floor love 'em.

Havent noticed it.
Shall I post it?
Unless its a large. Then I may continue not to notice it ;)

M, please do what you want with it- I am going to use this as an excuse to find a non-wonky helmet.

I'll look into it when I get home. No point posting it craply. As we couldnt garantee it hadnt been dropped. If I can sell it on easily. I can forward funds for head striaghtening surgery.

Giro atmos is the best ventilated helmet I've ever owned. Kask is like an oven by comparison and Lazer is slightly less so...
Subjective.
