What's this about Giro falling out with distributors?
I've been looking for a large Aeon but can't find one, there only seem to be smalls in limited colour ranges on the various websites. I assumed it was because they were about to bring out a new range so no-one was getting stock in, but I can't see any mention of an imminent new range either...

These aero road helmets the TdF was full of......where can I buy them?
~~ I need to save a few milliseconds off my time when riding 50kph ~~
I live in a shite climate and have no need for vents. -

I think they have parted ways with Madison, who have picked up Lazer instead.

We're still getting Giro helmets from Madison thought (b2b rather than consumer).

Does anyone have any experience with recent Prevails? I got one when they first came out and loved it. Recently, the padding on the front of the headband/pad part at the front wore through and it was cutting into my forehead and quite painful. I was about to buy a set of replacement pads when I was involved in a crash and smashed the helmet.
I got a new one under the crash replacement scheme, but this new one's padding/headband has a sharp, hard lip that runs under the padded section (which seems a little less padded than the old one?). This new one cuts into my head as badly as the old worn one. Has anyone else found this, does it wear in, if I order replacement pad things, will they be just as bad as the ones in my new helmet?

make your own pads?

I've discovered that I cannot make my Prevail sit on my head straight- after wearing it for a while it adopts a rakish angle.
Other than nailing it to my head how can I stop it doing this?

Looks so good, you'll need to be travelling at warp speed for it not to look daft on a commute tho.

It'll be my new bestest weekend helmet.
Reading around, its ventilation is halfway between a full TT helmet, and a high end road helmet. Which sounds perfect. I also hate having any part of my sunglasses in my vision. My Radar xls are the only bike shades that havent annoyed me. This visor solution might be better again.
If it fits that is. A Giro large should be spot on. But I'll just have to see. The fact that I could order it reasonably locally sealed the deal TBH.

it's a pro look for sure. Not sure I could pull it off, on or off the track.

Meh. Thats just inter-roadie opinion. In the bigger picture. The rest of sociaty thinks we look like dickheads regardless. Might as wel be a fast and comfortable dickhead.

I would consider one for track racing and TT's - but it just seems like bit of a halfway house for aerodynamics.

have you seen there are a bunch more aero-road helmets coming to market, this one by Bell
and this one by POC:
Both of them look nicer than the giro i think. As with anything aero there is no way to tell for sure how much difference they make without an expensive afternoon at the wind tunnel.

I really like the POC Octal, but £$£$£

The integrated visor of the Giro also scores very highly on the "can pretend to be riding cyborg dinosaur" scale.

It is exactly that.
Halfway between the aero selector, and the lighter, more vented aeon.
A lot of roadie kit is sacrificing cooling for aero advantage these days. But I never wanted the cooling in the first place, just the other high end features. So for me. This is an easy chioce.
Spoke too soon, £146 here http://www.biker-boarder.de/shopware/_detail_35626.html?adword=google/produkterweiterung/Giro/Giro-Air-Attack-Shield-black-silver-Fahrradhelm-M-55-59-cm&gclid=COzkkcb_vrgCFTMctAod-EUAIA
