Peace and love and lets all get to our destinations alive, smiling that we did it on 2 wheels and not 4.............remember for every action there is an equal an opposite reaction

Sorry to hear about this Skully, just makes me believe even stronger in my policy of never ever communicating with aggressive drivers. It can leave me feeling shit for days sometimes!

So, "Skully", let me see if I've got this right. You jumped a red light, nearly hitting a disabled child in the process and responded to the look of fear on the child's face by 'flipping him the bird' (your words not mine). Then you made an illegal left turn in to a one way street and were surprised to find a marching band coming towards you; a marching band which you admit were 'at the end of a three hundred mile charity walk' (again, your words not mine). Instead of stopping and turning round you instead speed up and ride directly at them. When they fail to part like the red sea you push the trombonist into the trumpeter and launch a 'phlegm rocket' (whatever that is) at the man with the big bass drum. Not content with this you steal a cymbal and bang it on your handle bars for quarter of a mile through busy london traffic while texting your friends to brag about your exploits.
And you ask why we can't all be friends? Tell that to the kid in the wheelchair, ask that of the bruised musicians. -

When people get into their cars, mostly, they have a strange psychological shift which causes them to behave like real idiots. I find it utterly bizzare the way most people drive. I am sure some studies must have been done on it by someone.
I've been wondering about this myself. I've been buzzed by people in cars on a number of occasions, and have always been left asking why they think it is OK to use their vehicle in such a threatening manner, especially when the consequences could be so dire. Sometimes I wonder if people really appreciate how vulnerable cyclists are.

That's not using the "wrong" side of the road, unless there was a solid white line up the middle of it.
There is no "wrong" side of the road, only traffic signs and markings that must be obeyed.
In the OP, Skully made the mistake of failing to obey a road sign.
Tru dat, but most traffic islands have a "keep left" sign on them, and failing to obey that particular road sign when using a motor vehicle can cost you 3 points on your driving licence, so it must be seen as a particular cause of collisions.

Glad your feeling better Skully!
Oh and I hope when the truck driver next stops of to buy a refreshing carton of ribena he grabs the light vareity, and takes a large sip back in his van and is thoroughly disapointed with its content.

Of course, its fucking bonkers to go on the wrong side of these island things. But most of us here do it. And lots of Mbikers do too. In the end, we think of ourselves as not deserving to sit at the back of long jams of four-or-more wheelers. It's called filtering, right? Its an easy step to nipping round these islands.

There's been several occasions when we've all done little naughty things and cut corners BUT on some of the times I've done it I find it unbelievable that some arsehole drivers actually speed-up and/or steer into you.
As if to say "I'm in the right, you're a cunt, I have right of way etc..." and wouldn't actually give a fuck if they did actually hit you, cos they can just plead "well it was his fault"
I find that really odd behaviour, risking causing someone severe injury or death just to prove a point -

I hope the truck driver makes an impulse purchase of Dostoevsky's Winter Notes on Summer Impressions and studiously ploughs through all 267 pages, only to end up disappointed that there are no tits in it.

I know this area well (Shaftesbury Ave leading up to Cambridge Circus, nr the Fire Station). It gets jammed with traffic all the time, and you need to filter down the rh side of the traffic. But then there's those traffic islands. I don't think going down the rhs of those is a dangerous move, provided there's nothing coming the other way. Peds do all kinds of jumping across traffic moves in that area. The only thing you did wrong was misjudge the traffic coming in the other direction slightly. The other driver acted disproportionately by trying to 'punish' you for this error by directing his vehicle at you. The driver will always claim that 'you were in the wrong' so it's best to let those incidents go, and save your comments for those times when your riding is faultless. -

+1 plenty of detailed character studies but absolutely no pie throwing. I too was disappointed.

IMO you did wrong and admitted it. Truck driver also did wrong. Let he who is whith out sin cast the first stone. We all make mistakes, are lazy, may be more live and let live. Its not as if you inconvienced him in anyway.
PS get details o the truck and telephone his depot.
Edit glad your alright.
