-
• #2956
^^Jeezus Tim! If you're not careful we'll be in serious danger of looking like we almost know what we're doing this year!?
-
• #2957

I went to the Bike Festival meeting last night. We're on their programme at our usual time (from 12pm) on Sunday 22nd April, although we can maybe start earlier if the weather is good. Session to be run as a combination of our normal throw-ins with spare players doing casual games/practice with anyone who's game.
Sound alright?

Quiggers you massive wimp, take the train if you can't handle nippy fingers. You've got more insulation than the rest of us put together.

• #2962
BTW we can start doing lists again, I've calmed down now and can retract my diatribe against them.

Hey guys
I have emailed the relevant people at Brighton Uni and am waiting for a response.
I have also done the calculations for the possibility of a one day tournament.
30 teams = 15 games x 4 rounds of swiss x (10minute games + 2 minutes wasteage)/2 courts = 6 hours exactly
16 teams double elimination = 59 games max x (10 minute games + minutes wastage) = 5 hours 50 minutes
That means that total playing time is 11h50m
This would mean leaving at least 12h30 minutes for the tournament and would mean a very very long day all round.
It would be possible if we start play AT 9am and finish around 11pm.
Thoughts?

That's a lot of polo for one day!
West pier not available unfortunately. They're leasing it out from April to October. Final meeting's tomorrow so not sure what's going to be there yet, but it's not going to be a bike polo tournament!
And for anyone making a mallet, there's yellow pipe being laid today (Thursday) and I guess for the next few days at the top of Egremont place, kemp town. I asked the dudes to leave any off cuts out by the fence for us to collect if we're passing. Help yourselves.

Someone grab loads and we can do a big mallet making session. I'll get loads of reccessed M6 bolts when I'm next near nuts and bolts in Hove.
-
• #2970
^Whoa! there Timothy. There probably won't be "loads". It will more than likely just be odds and sods of different lengths, if anything at all. I grabbed about a foot earlier. If people are lucky when they're passing (preferably in the evening when the gas men have gone home) they might be able to grab a similar length for themselves.
Pipe scavenging 4EVA!

there's two 10 foot lengths of yellow gas pipe at cranks, i'm sure they wouldn't mind donating one to the bhbpa.

• #2972
There is road works and yellow piping along the road by our gaff too.
Thanks for dragging out that picture Tim! -

Hello guys, i am here to let you know about the UKHBPA. we are trying to bring every city together and improve UK polo as we know it. We would have meetings (as regular as possible, maybe every NS event) and talk about things such as rules, reffing situations, tournaments (such as UK Champs, possibility of euros etc) and much more. could you please elect one rep for your city and add it to the list here (list is not updated in OP)
please add your city's name and your rep's name. we would like for all reps to talk to all(in person or through the forum) players in their city and take notes of what they would like to be brought up in meetings, the rep can then go back and give a debrief to all players. first meeting (potentially) is at the cambridge regional bench minor.
this is a good opportunity and hope to see you all soon.
luca.
