I'll make an appearance weds, can't guarantee thurs myself as i'm pretty broke plus it doesn't make sense me paying to play if i have to wait on people not to play so i can borrow a bike.. Will try cranks for a new back wheel tonight.
That said, i wanted some advice - might fork out ahem for a new set, can any one see any immediate issues with these:
These two sets are better build obviously but the bankrupt might be a bit wide - might need to get new tyres & tubes to accommodate and the Alex rims are good but with a 'minor buckle' already in the back wheel its only a matter of a few heafy bumps before that goes right???..

What time is the court booked for Thursday, Tim? Just wondering if I can sort it out and come along. Would be a shame to not have enough of us there for a game to check it out properly. Probably looking at yet another flat but can try and make it earlier. Getting bored of house hunting...

Just been on TwatBook. Apparently the warehouse at Shoreham has been getting noise complaints from neighbours and the council are trying to shut it down. Back to square one?

Speaking from my own point of view I find that my game has barriers that I want to overcome. With this is mind I have been reading the training and coaching threads in the Bike Polo section to get some ideas and there are some good drills there.
I think that playing throw ins is good for practical application of your skills but they rarely seem to improve specific parts if your game much as you never make a conscious effort to play in a different way. I think this is especially true of interaction with team mates as well as building play, passing and communication that doesnt end with shouting the point of the court you are at and would like the ball passed to.
Therefore I am suggesting that maybe one night a week anyone who is interested comes down to PP (or alternative venue) and we do some drills. I think this would be especially useful for anyone who feels their game isnt at the standard that we currently play at.
As winter approaches it is clear that attendance wont be the same as it was at the height of summer so instead of playing disappointing 2 v 2s on days when people cant make it maybe the ones that do can make use of the time by doing some agreed drills etc.
I think because we are all at a similar level and not playing teams that are much better than us we are missing out on improving our games and being more competitive in future tourneys.
Queue bitching and disparaging comments but if no one is up for it I will be down there on my own doing some solo drills. Knocking the ball about on my own last Sunday when everyone was packing up made it clear that I need to work on shooting accuracy and I am sure there are other areas I can work at on my own

I'm looking forward to seeing what the PP football kids think of our drills.
I completely agree though and am up for it. I also think that if we are considering a different day we could incorporate some team play at the end of the session. Rather than three hours of playing low intensity games, a few high intensity games which you actually care about winning would be beneficial for me.

I'd be up for drills, depending on the format and when and where etc.
Not going to make it to PP tonight, but should be at Shoreham tomorrow. Any idea of numbers yet? We still have a few quid (£27.55) in the kitty from Moulescoomb that we could spend on the court tomorrow if everyone else agrees??

we could practice drills at Tarner, no? I'm still talking to them about boards etc.

For those in teams that would be fine, what about the rest of us :)

Nor am I. I had in mind a kind of rough and ready team approach, I wasn't very clear.
If we turn up and those that are in existing teams play in those teams, remnants of other teams grab a third and anyone left over forms teams for that evening.
It would mean that the existing teams could improve their team play, new teams could be formed and we can have games which we really care about winning.

Where is the court for tomorrow?
-
• #2523
The court is on the the A259 coastal road into Shoreham on the left hand side. It's got a graffitied sign which says Roller Central and is hard to miss.
Anyone getting the train, meet at the Brighton station at 17.15 for the train. We'll sort out a group saver.
