I won't be embarrassed, if the sessions are good then I'll come along when I am able - unless that's gonna be banned under the new regime.
I can't finish work any earlier than 5:30pm and that's with me taking a 30 min lunch instead of my allotted hour. Don't want to rush home to get my stuff then get the train to Shoreham just to play for a few hours. I'll be travelling to London for work more often now too so may not be able to make it at all week-in-week-out.
There's no beef here, it's just a question of practicalities for me.

Consider yourself banned.

Cranks is a bit of a haven for 26" wheels. The hipsters won't touch them.

You can't ban me! I quit!
I got my wheels from Cranks, Mavic and Ambrosio laced to Deores....

Lighting Preston Park
I've looked into lights a bit and it doesn't look like the actual lights are the problem. You can get Halogen or LED spots for around a tenner each and some come with clamps etc for easy attachment to the courtside.
I've texted Ady to ask about how many/what wattage we would need to light a court.
The problem would most likely be a generator/ generators (or miles of cable) which seem to be around £300 (£100 for some seriously gnarly looking ones).
4 x 500w = 2kw capacity
This is what they had in Bristol.
Another option would be getting LED lamps and running them on a car battery!
It is definitely an idea to keep an eye out for a cheap generator on gumtree and ebay.
£300 (genny) + £50 (lights) + £20 (cables) = £370 / polo crew = £30 each + diesel per session

i have a rear 26" wheel...its cassette though. think i have a crank set from my old polo bike you can have
-
• #2460
Cassette is all good, you'll need an SS conversion kit though, it gives you more control over chainline. A kit is about 20 sheets, you can get some that come with 2 cogs so you'll get some variety in gearing too.

Good work Tim. I'm happy to contribute my fair share, whatever we decide to go for. £30 for a winter of polo? Mos definitely in.
I'll put a shout out on twatbook too. Got a few mates that have been doing parties for years and might have an old generator we might be able to have cheap. Obviously you get what you pay for though, and that genny they were using in Brizzle was bloody quiet all things considered.

I spoke to my dad earlier and he says he has a generator we could use over the winter. It's been sitting in storage for a while so he's going to check if it needs anything doing to it and let me know

Hi there , unfortunately it looks like I'm out for thurs session ( unless I can find last minute cover ) however there is a few of us off again tomorrow & having afternoon throw-ins at Preston park if anybody is up for it ! Mwah......
-
• #2464
good work tim on booking shoreham, we need to make sure we have something sorted for goals, and blocking the entrance gaps onto the court!
-
• #2465
I'm up for Wednesday throw ins as per, but can't get there til 5. when's it getting dark these days? Thursday's tricky for me as I work in Brighton all day with Lemmy in the car and I can't really justify 2 or 3 more hours of pain (?) for him whilst we bang a ball around that he'd fucking love to be chasing. Animal rights will be right on my case innit. Vegans unite!! Bit drunk after an evening of 70th birthday celebs...x

Reshcheduled for next Thursday.
Do not go to Shoreham tomorrow!
Dice - make the effort for this first session and then make an informed decision as to whether or not it's too much faff.
I mainly say this because of how embarassing it would be for you to have to come crawling back with your tail between your legs when we can't shut up about how rad our weekday sessions are ;).
