Yo Chris, what have you done with your old riser bars/stem? Would be keen to take them off you...
-
• #1432
Oh btw, i bought that Charge Stove from the open market, £135.
-
• #1433
Yes danny! one of us needed to get it. So what are you doing with your polo set up? are you keeping the stove for non-polo activities?
-
• #1434
The Stove's going to be overhauled and set up for polo. That is if it's any good, it's kind of heavy and slow like an obese bmx. Joe's probably going to pick up the current polo bike and use it, and we can share it about if anyones bike dies.

Sorry Danny. Stem and bars going on my new frame...when I get around to collecting it from Bournemouth. I do have a brand new set of oversized (31.8) On One risers available if you want to go down that route? Also a saddle and a pair of grips. All came with the pompino deal and surplus to requirements.

When I say 'new frame', it's an old 90s Italian road frame that a mate hasn't ridden for 15 years. Not sure what it is exactly as I haven't seen it yet, but it's my size and going cheap/free. He used to be sponsored apparently so hoping it's going to be worth the trip along the coast??

90's Italian road frame, I'm gonna go for...

• #1438
Yeh Chris, that's what i'm after. Are they Brown? i have some mahoosive cruiser type handlebars at the moment that are just too hench for polo i think. Definitely take the grips (oury?) and maybe the saddle off you pending colours.. i hope you went for the pink ;)

Also, I'm also planning on changing my freewheel for a bigger toothed one, but it's the same type as the one pictured above with the two dots on the face. Anybody work out how to remove these or are they unremovable?
-
• #1440
Black. I'll bring all the bits on Sunday for negotiation. Freewheel: apparently they're not designed to come off intact. You could probably take it to bits to remove it, but you'll need a replacement.
-
• #1441
Get your grind on Danny!
-
• #1442
Nice one Chris, leave the saddle, just had a look, they're 'orrible. I'll be well keen for the risers n grips if they fit this stem tho.
Looks like i will have to hack that fucking freewheel off then. What a ridiculous design... -
• #1443
I came across one of those freewheels the other day. According to Harvey you can remove them with a pin spanner and a big piece of pipe for leverage.
-
• #1444
Thanks mate, that sounds feasible looking at it.
-
• #1445
We've got the tool you need at the workshop.....I used to ride these loads back in my BMX days and, if all else fails, you can sometimes get them off with a thin punch and hammer! We shall prevail!!
-
• #1446
It is possible to remove these but you really have to be patient. There are at least thirty two bitty bearings to catch and four pawls that are held flat by the same plate you need to remove with the pin spanner. Buckeroo anyone!!

...or £9 on eBay for another. Hmmm.....

-
• #1449
Alive and kicking, woodrow. Preston Park courts tomorrow (Sunday) from 1pm until we've had enough. Also Wednesdays from 3ish. Normally throw ins, but trying to get slightly disciplined and playing in 'teams' in preparation for our tourney next month. Come along, you'll be most welcome.

I got that poxy freewheel off!
The pin spanner didn't grip the tiny indentations on the freewheel face. I tried hammering it repeatedly with a punch to try and drift it off but it wasn't budging. So, i took the grinder to it, smashed it up some more with a hammer and it exploded and rained down tiny bearings.
The Stove is a little bit closer to being a decent polo bike now though!
Chris, if you could bring those risers and grips along tomorrow that would be awesome!
Polo @ preston park from 4 o'clock!
Bhbp ftw!
