Brighton Hard Court Bike Polo - Official Thread

I is coming out to play.

Couple of shots from yesterday on Tumblr. Danny, don't change that bike. There's got to be hours of high/lowlights video footage to be had out of that death trap!

I don't ever want to play on Bertha again. I haven't hurt like that after polo since the beginning.
I know not many people will be able to make it but does anybody fancy a weekday session, just a knock about? Perhaps Wednesday?

Bertha would be fine with a back brake, I have a tendency to pull on the brake when I shoot and if it was a front brake I would probably go over the handlebars a lot too.

I'm game for Wednesday session, I'm up early to go to the Job Centre.

Back brakes are so overrated, Danny. Don't listen to Dice. Stick with the front mate - practice makes perfect and all that...

Unfortunately I'm still chainringless, so won't be able to make tomorrow. Unless somebody has a spare 38t 130bcd kicking around? Hoping the postman will get the new one here in time to play on Sunday??

Don't give me all that chatter Chris, you nutter. Back brakes are where it's at, you can't slide into anyone's path with a front brake. Anyway, Danny built up a new polo whip this very afternoon...

I vowed never to ride that monster after fracturing three ribs - pedal strike.
I did enjoy it more when it was fixed though; didn't have to use that shitty front brake.

URGENT PROBLEM. NEW FRAME REQUIRED. Just putting on new chainring and noticed two cracks right through the chainstays just behind the BB. Gutted! Does anyone have or know of another that I could have/borrow/buy? 55/56/57cm would be about right. Was going to ride in but don't want to risk it. Could swing by pretty much anywhere in Brighton/Hove to collect and build at side of court. All I'd need to borrow is a BB tool if someone's got one. Think I've got everything else I need. Thanks for the kind offer Danny, but I think I'll pass on Bertha. I've become rather attached to my bollocks over the years. Regrettably, I'm going to pass on today. It just wasn't meant to be. Started raing here too. Hopefully I'll have something sorted for next week. Have fun without me. Don't forget 'Daft Punks' need 2 more team members for the tourney. Any takers?

Elvis has and old Carlton frame which might do the trick. It's well battered and would look great as a polo bike.

Thanks Tim, but I think I'm just going to bite the bullet and splash out on a proper polo frame. Been doing a bit of research recently, but all suggestions very welcome. The DAMP Butterbeans look amazing, but can't seem to find anything on the net re availability/prices/distribution etc. Also considering the On One 'Pompetamine' frameset. Could probably have that here by next weekend if I can raise the funds.

Wow, that frameset is a bargain! Go for that if you are just gonna transfer all the bits off of your old bike.

That is a bargain, If i had 200 quid knocking around i would get one for polo, especially as you get super cool Fixie Pops tyres included!
