I thought that the Dlock was the only option?
Tho I guess some people sympathise with someone thats been ripped off and offer them some sort of middle ground, I however would take it back and explain to the person they bought stolen goods and should expect to have the bike taken and no compensation...and then Dlock the fucker as I rode away!!!
This is where i STAND....... if you buy from a thief it's your fault already, he has robbed to sell you. Dlock everywhere!

Well done man

Isn't this the case in law anyway (apart from the D-lock bit), "receiving stolen goods" even if you bought it?

I don't think Ed actually rides his bike.
-

No I don't, I build it, smear mud on it, chew the top tube and take photos of it.

Ed wishes he could go out riding but he still hasn't got that Rando on...

wmialil, great news, congratulations.
Out of interest what was the "new improved front wheel"?

I think it's wrong to buy a bike that you know is stolen (even there are grey areas--e.g., if you're buying a stolen bike back for an owner who's asked you to do it. I don't see much wrong with buying your own stolen bike back if you desperately want it, though. Cases like this will be vanishingly rare. I suppose you could argue that it's a case of partially giving in to blackmail, but it's not 100% clear-cut in any case.

You got it back! Raatid! :)

Good to hear this story, wmialil. Was the presence of back-up necessary to knock the price down?
-
• #92
Good to hear you got it back, shame you had to pay (meant in the nice way)

yeh ive been riding around non stop! soooo pleased!
the new wheel is a miche to a miche (used to be an 80s maillard thing).
Not sure if the back up was necessary but he did go down from £150 to 75.
Felt sorry for him though. He was an extremely nervous and upset korean student with very little money working in a korean restaurant who wanted a cheap bike.
FUCK the thief. FUCK HIM. If anyone wants to go kill him he goes to HACKNEY COMMUNITY COLLEGE. He's a short and stocky white guy with short hair who wears tracksuits. Sounds exactly fucking like the bricklane bike seller whos always there.

I know I shouldn't, but I actually feel kinda sorry for the Korean guy too for getting mixed up in this whole affair. Oh well, main thing is YOU GOT YOUR FUCKING BIKE BACK!
