  • That looks fun!

  • I’ve got one of those in a cupboard somewhere. Great little amp when it wasn’t rattling!

  • Got the Eastman back from guitar man and he’s done a proper job. Frets looking great, lowered the action and adjusted the bridge a bit. Plays like a different guitar!

  • I have a Marshall Class 5 and a Vox VT20+. The Class 5 has had to go and sit in the corner until it promises to behave because it is just crazy loud. I'm just finishing off a pedalboard (@BleakRefs) that will hopefully help me get some decent tone out of it at neighbour-friendly volumes.

The Vox is a very versatile little amp, but a bit too fiddly for my liking in terms of the number of options available. Ultimately I'll probably be getting rid of one of them.

  • Speaking of pedals. I have a Danelectro Fab Fuzz. It suggests a 9v 300mA maximum power supply, but I find it really difficult to believe that it needs that much. Anyone have any idea of its real current draw? Hopefully it's pretty small so I can run it off the 100mA on the power supply and leave the high current (500mA) port for my Boss RC-30 loop station.

  • Fuzz pedals don't usually draw all that much, certainly nothing like a digital pedal will. Give it a go I reckon, I would have thought 100mA would be just fine.

  • So I've come to the conclusion that I'm definitely, 100% a Fender guy. I have a Fender with P90s now so my nearly-new Yammy Revstar is for sale. RS502 in "shop black" (black that's been wire wool-d to a matte finish, bound neck and body, very dark brown stain on the back), Gibson style double cutaway (Gibson scale length, 12" radius, wraparound bridge, mahogany body with maple cap, mahogany set neck, rosewood board). P90s. Nice hardware. Has had a proper setup done, plays and sounds great. No damage/wear (lockdown purchase so never gigged). Nice gig bag that comes with it.

Paid £500 plus the setup and a fresh set of D'Addarios. Forum price of £425 ono?

  • That fuzz might even sound better at 100mA!!!

  • Not my thing but that's very handsome in black, my mate got given a green one by Yamaha which I think looks terrible... GLWS!

  • Isn’t it the voltage sag from a dying battery that affects the tone? Rather than the current. Always worth mucking about with though...

  • Cheers, yeah, not a fan of that grey-green option.

  • Maybe you're right, I'm a bit* shit with all the technical stuff... ☺️

My power supply has a pot on one output so I can emulate that battery sag thing...

    * very

  • Yeah same, I use a voodoo labs one and it can sag the voltage from 9V down to 4V IIRC.

  • Cheers. I got the pedal for cheapz so I'm not worried about it or its performance. My real concern is knackering the power supply from trying to draw too much current and simultaneously (somehow) burning our other pedals that are attached to it. I tried to do a quick test with my multimeter, which didn't seem to work quite as described but suggested 19mA when it sort-of worked. That's in line with the rest of the Fab range, so I'm fairly confident that it will be fine. I'll try it in the 100mA port with the other pedals unplugged and see if it works and if the power supply gets hot.

That Revstar is just lovely! I'm very much after a Gibson-scale-length hardtail guitar, but I'm struggling to justify have more guitars than I currently own.

  • Ah yeah, fair point. 19mA sounds in the right ballpark for a fuzz pedal though.

  • New pedalboard setup!
