the hole in the body where it was hit by a drunken darts player during my last pub gig
Sounds a bit like the old 'the Bible in my breast pocket stopped the bullet' thing. :)

It's really easy to get too much Tru oil on, really needs very fine coats to dry nicely. Good luck with the Danish, if it feels good, it can't be bad...mmmh?
Love this song. Cracking version.

Had a half day off and managed to do a bit of recording. Cheesy version of an old early Dylan demo. Mainly just to have something to record. Bit of an exercise in getting my toe back in the production water rather than anything I'd want to put out there. Quite pleased with the acoustic guitar sounds and overall sound tho....

Drums are a mix of EZ drummer and Drummer. Guild M20 in open E and my Sigma Martin knock-off in standard. Bass is my Squier J bass and the widdles are the Riviera thru a Klone, some slap-back and the Champ with a 57 bunged in front. For neighbourly reasons it was recorded at whisper quiet volume. All a bit ho-hum musically but I enjoyed getting back into the saddle and pissing about with plug-ins. Beats sitting on the sofa watching re-runs of Girls. Maybe.

Great!
(I wish I could sing, mumble, gripe.)

Sounds great - really natural sounding, like musicians in a room. Never got the hang of that myself.

Sounds great, Al! I'm with Rick, what little voice I had seems to have disappeared with the onset of acid reflux...

Occasional acid redux is about as exciting as it gets for me these days....
@Fatberg - sounds choice!

Cheers dudes. I wish I could say the singing was just dashed off but the reality is, I sang a few takes, hated them all and decided I was going to re-do it. Then for an experiment in recording, I comped together the least worst bits and put it through Melodyne. Amazingly once it was in tune I hated it much less. Gawd bless the good folk at Celemony. I don't always auto-tune, but when I do, I MELODYNE.

For putting things in a virtual space, I pretty much always have small or medium room reverb on Bus 1 and blend a bit into almost everything. Then I put more effecty reverbs (like a plate) on the vocals etc. Not close-mic'ing anything helps as well. there's a good foot of fresh air between the source and mic for the acoustics and vocals. Probably just lack of use dude. I'm rusty as hell. My ability to control tone and pitch is all but gone at the moment. Hence...

That's a really good shout. As an ex rocker we have a terrible tendency to close mic everything and put digital ambience in later, but that real room sound is such a big part of acoustic music that it really feels odd when it isn't there.

The best kind of pure.filth. imo
Edit: should have checked what I wrote before posting.

Thanks for sharing - I think that's probably the best guitar build I've seen on YouTube. Really lovely work to watch.

Gonna watch that ^ in a sec...
Aged pick-up covers are in the Jag, bit of a tight fit but nothing a little gentle filing couldn't cure... White pickguard on the way...
It also looks I'm gonna get my '58 Junior refinished, been talking to a guy in Brisbane who does lovely work... I'm in negotiations, details to follow!

Here's a Junior that Ryan at Conway Custom built, so pretty... Love the headstock and branding, very stylish... Should've stuck with a Gibson style truss rod really but that's my only criticism, very nice indeed...

Just re-attached Tele neck having applied and buffed back around 6 or 8 coats of Danish Oil. Really happy with it. The fingerboard is still a bit of a mess to look at but it plays great and the matt/satin finish of the oil on the back of the neck feels amazing.
I've also gone down to 0.09" strings which i'm loving. Makes the waggle so much easier. feels twangier too. Haven't plugged in yet but I'll have a crank later hopefully.

I have a Dispatch Master V1, bought cheaply when someone traded it in against the new V3. Be aware the V1 footswitch is very loud. Louder than whatever you're thinking.
