It is a thing of beauty already.

It's rekindling my desire for a single pickup R4... I'd arrange the knobs like on a Junior, obvs... I would adore a guitar like that, don't need another one but y'know... 😜

This would be killer. I've been guiltily admiring that Jared James Nichols chap's signature Epiphone... just looks rad.

I like the idea of that but really hate the execution... He's been playing a vintage Junior recently so I don't think that boy's seen much action recently... ðŸ¤

Yeah I've never actually listened to him but he keeps popping up in my Instagram suggested posts.
I love his 1953 red refinished Gold Top, seems like a cool guy.

Prefer white and gold

Whenever I see a white LP, I always think of Buckethead.
NO THANKS.

This is way closer, would be perfect if it was black... And it was a wraparound... And the knobs were in a straight line...
It's an itch I'd love to scratch but it would be very fucking indulgent, I'd have to sell my old cherry custom if it ever happened...

Also found a cute 70s MIJ Epi acoustic that needs a neck reset for £100. Gumtree if anyone’s interested.

So I'm in love with the SL-X, truth is the sound isn't too far from my Twin Reverb... A bit more Marshall-y but a cranked Twin isn't too far away from that, see Steve Jones or Johnny Thunders in the late 70s for proof...
Gain up and pre-amp right down sounds lovely, creamy, chiming gain that is still very musical... It obvs still chugs LAMF but it's very nice, fantastic purchase, very happy!!!

Awesome man. Well chuffed for yer.
Jesus. When have you been able to crank a Twin tho? Only time I've ever experienced it first hand in a small venue it's been fucking deafening. As in literally so loud my ears kind of went into shutdown and all I could hear was a painful whistling whooshing sound that felt like i'd put my head in a blender.

Ha, true... I've only ever cranked mine once, at the Battersea Arts Centre in 1985... Two fuzz boxes on top of that tho', so not true Twin tone... I meant fake master volume cranked really, totally cheating...

That’s... utterly terrifying! Fuck me, it nearly had his finger off.

I know :) big bits like that are so fast and grabby - I saw the bit where he got close, but I couldn't watch a lot of the video as if it had grabbed his hands could have gone anywhere!
There's no way I'd hold anything with my hands with one of those. It needs heavy jigs that can only move in the right direction etc.

What do we think about Tweed Deluxe clones. There’s a really tidy looking one on eBay for 550 here.

Only ten watts innit. I need moar. Probably.

Do like the idea of a handmade 5E3 tho.

I've seen some lovely ones, very boutique, normally very pricey... Linky?
Went to see Tym yesterday to buy some speaker cables and we got chatting as per usual... Gonna get him to sell my Solton head, I figured I'd get $500 tops for it, he's gonna put it out at $999! I may just buy the Super Champ that's on Reverb at the moment if that's really on the cards... 🤑

Very nice, cheap as chips really...

In other news... A very cheap single cut TV junior popped up on my FB feed yesterday, I've successfully resisted up to now... It's just down the road... 😬
Thanks :) @radar - give a shout if you ever go for it, I can probably send some templates depending on what you want to build.
I think Gil Yaron actually uses a router with an enormous cutter to carve the back of his necks - imagine it's incredibly intimidating when up to speed...
Edit:
Here's one. This looks scary af, but if you could use it safely might make neck building more 'exact'
