I'm searching for "the amp" now.
Strongly considering a Ceriatone Overtone (Dumble clone) in a combo...

Do it, the placebo effect alone will be worthwhile!

Would probably cost more than the guitar's worth tho'!
It's actually funny how I got my Tokai... @rickster and I were working in the same office, we had a copy of Vintage Guitar and I was desperately scouring the ads for a TV Junior... I did find one that had had a neck break but a possible refin so I left it... I was on a bit of a Tokai jag at the time and saw this Tokai strat in Japan for ~£150, old 7okai logo so I decided to take a punt... Amazed it didn't arrive in pieces, it was sent in a box with a bit of newspaper as padding... It had black bits on it so went down to Soho Soundhouse (remember that place?!?) and got a white scratchplate, knobs, pick-up covers and switch/trem tips and away I went... It's a bloody great guitar... #csb

Pics though...

I agree on the finish - my Japanese Strat is all poly and the neck finish is a bit irritating. If I had the time, i’d definitely consider stripping and tru oiling.

Here's a pic of it ages ago, it's got new pickups with aged covers now and looks even better...

Alex and Ethan at Tym's got their heads together and came up with this solution for an extra pickup behind the bridge on a Jaguar, I'm totally doing it... Controlled by the switches on the top horn... Fabulous!

My man! Good find!
I've just found a Polytone Mini Brute III and I think I may have also done the deal :)
I had been planning to buy a Dumble clone combo (Ceriatone Overtone Lunchbox Combo) but I think for now I'll get the Polytone and a Boss Katana Air and still have a chunk of change!

For those about to RAWK!
Sweet - 50w?
-
• #7263
100w, it's the 2100... I'm really stoked, would've preferred 50w but this was so cheap I had to get it... $850!!!
My old mate, Bogey, is picking it up in Sydney tomorrow... Funny we used to go to gigs together when we were kids in London and now he's picking up an amp for me in Sydney... Strange times, good times...

Wallop! That’s very cool. Attenuator and a 4 x 12 in the pipe too?
-
• #7265
I've already got A and B cabs and an attenuator has been on my shopping list for ages!! Someday... Super Champ first tho'!! 😂

Mate that's awesome. Are you gigging again then?
It's my birthday in a couple of weeks and i'm going to treat myself to a new amp so I can at least get back in a practice room with a drummer. I'm pretty much set on a AC15 and have been trawling teh netz for days now. Looks like you can get a s/h Chinese 1x12 with a Greenback for about 3-400 quid. There's a couple of the 2x12 China built versions in that range which appeals because, AC30 but a bit quieter right? Both would would require a full day's train travel to collect and lug home tho. Or there's a UK built 1x 12 one with the Celestion Blue in Oxfordshire for £450. I'm leaning heavily towards that... pending the dude replying sending pics.
EDIT: just did some research and if this is the marshall built valve rectifier one, they go for about £800 even without the blue. Either a mad bargain or something fishy. Will report back soon.

I saw Sebadoh last night. They were excellent - played mostly the early-mid nineties songs that got me into them, with some from the new album. Some of the new ones have heavy b-benderesque country elements, likely of interest to some here.

You should be able to find a Chinese AC15C1 for less than £3-400, Shirley? Mine was a minter and I only got $500 for it... The hand wired ones are great, treat yourself and get the blonde version (AC15HW1), it's the correct shape and one of the greatest amps of the ever...
I'm starting playing with the Turbojugend lot again soon, not sure about doing my own stuff, it's so much work!!

Lou’s Bass Tone
Ooh la la -
• #7270
I'm off to see them tomorrow night in Leeds, been looking forward to it for months.

You'll probably rub shoulders with my old mate, Fluff... He'd always rock up to my old place on Blenheim Crescent with Sebadoh records after having a splurge at Rough Trade, good Wakefield lad...

I paid £420 for my AC15C2 (greenbacks) if that helps...
It has a full size reverb tank which is a nice bonus over the 1x12. -

I loved, loved, loved Sebadoh back in the days. And I loved loved loved Helmet. And then Sebadoh put out a record called 'Sebadoh vs Helmet' on the grounds that Helmet summed up everything they hated about music, and we had to make our choice. Many good men died in the Sebadoh vs Helmet wars. :(

It does help ta. There's one with a BIN of £360. Collection only in Barnsley tho...

Will I bump into you at the Helmet gig next week?
It sounds bloody lovely! I had always used Marshall (or similar) amps until a few years ago when I used a Vox in a practice room and realised what I was missing out on.
