I'm on this Aussie gear thread on FB, all massive smartarses but they have an amazing deal thread... Very similar to Lufuguss actually... It's where I got my Space Echo as well, could get pricey...

Got a maple board on my Tele Deluxe, it's fine! I think I probably do prefer rosewood but like @n3il says, this was too cheap to pass up... A MIM '72 Thinline popped up today as well, could potentially trade the strat and get money on top then use that to put towards some OG wide range humbuckers... Just a thought... 😉

Nice, the Facebook groups I’m a member of all seem to want to flog their gear at over ebay rates. Although I did get a free baby grand piano, which is pretty rad!

Well Clapton.

A free baby grand? whoah. Which groups are these mr hammer?
Other than lufugusus, I've never really found much of a musical home on teh webz. Not since Plan B Mag went tits up in about 2007 or so. I quit hanging around the TDPRI when i realised that I didn't care abut gear as much as I do about songs. I used to be fairly active on there and Sounds XP (an indie-pop biased wbsite, label and promoter with a friendly forum). They put a couple of records out and I played and and helped at shows. Made a few good IRL friends, bit like here. suppose except that forum's deserted now. Went on there the other day it's ad-bots talking to each other. Properly bleak.

Got lucky searching on Facebook marketplace - a lady who needed the space listed it about 2-3 minutes before I randomly searched one day. Had to pair a fair whack to move it here though.
On the forum front I used to like the fx pedal bit of harmony central (loads of lightly used bargains) but a controversial buyout and software change killed it.
Sound on sound has good info but some of the magazine staff appear to be cork-sniffing bellends.

Fuckinell what a beauty!
Yeah SoS has its place but I stopped buying the mag years ago. It stinks of bedroom wannabe delusions and gear acquisition over all else to me.
Tape Op felt like home for a while. Genuinely like their ethos and taste. Just can’t really find a way into the board tho. Lack of will on my part i’m Sure

I also need a cheap but decent interface, much more than I needed another fucking guitar... Gah!!
So, ideally, Apogee Duet is what I should be looking at for Logic X on a Mac?
-
• #5560
I'm totally gonna flip this, I paid less than half the going rate so I should be able to pick up an MIJ Jazzmaster and a bit of cash to put towards an interface...
-
• #5561
I'm in the same boat at the moment. Apogee One seems to be a good option but Duet seems to be preferable. You can pickup a second-hand Duet for about the same price as a new One.

Just remembered I have a Mackie Blackjack Onyx in box somehere if anyone wants it. https://www.richtonemusic.co.uk/product/mackie_onyx_blackjack_2x2_usb_recording_interface_order_in_4s/?gclid=CjwKCAiA8vPUBRAyEiwA8F1oDDVx91nT8c37d5QFTm47uCDFuWSn8g5nXB8pYqDtp6cO7VVnJ1h5MRoCfC0QAvD_BwE

They are excellent workhorses. I had one but my missus nicked it for DJing purposes. I really like the Onyx pres as well - there's a bit of dullness or murkiness about them that works nicely to offset our usually 100% digital recording chains.

Don't know what the fuck I did with it...
-
• #5565
Ah. I've just remembered donating it and a Tascam digital 8-track to the Forest Hill Cancer Research shop.

New bass amp works damn well, but it's... polite.
Anybody have a bass OD of any kind for sale...? SFT, Blueberry, etc.
-
• #5567
Anyone want to buy a Line 6 Spider Jam? Barely used. I appreciate it's not a vintage, valve-driven collectible...
-
• #5568
I have a fuzzrocious demon I keep meaning to sell if that’s any good? Has the 2nd gated boost mod as well
-
• #5569
It’s spendy but I really rate the Tech 21 VT bass DI. I think there’s a straight pedal option too if you don’t need the DI bit.
-
• #5570
A DI might be useful sometimes as the amp's line out level is stupidly tied to the master volume. Only tried the VT bass in a shop, wasn't sure about it then, but maybe should look again.
The fuzzrocious sounds neat but it's a bit too lairy for this old man. I'm more looking for the merest soupçon of Jamerson. Something a bit like... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_VjBTsx4gg
...or what the One Control Sonic Silver Peg does... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=chh855L8rus

Ah sorry, with you now... yeah fuzzrocious is pretty full on. The Darkglass Vintage Ultra could be another good DI option, does everything from a bit of subtle warming to full on OD.
I have the B7K which has a more modern slant I guess, but its really versatile. I initially bought it as a distortion but ended up using it as an always on clean(ish) boost into my amp and a DI for recording.
Basschat classifieds are a good place to pick up pedals, could be worth a look.

A DI might be useful sometimes as the amp's line out level is stupidly
tied to the master volumeThat's weird. Not a line out then is it? Shirley the whole point of a line out is that it's at line level. i.e 1 volt or whatever it is.
-
• #5573
Well yes, quite. It's labelled Line Out but it's really audio out as it varies between mic and line level depending on the master. Easy to pad it down to mic level either at the desk or via an attenuator (I carry one), but annoying if you want to crank it up in the second set to be heard onstage as it'll affect the FOH. I think it's maybe because the designer is SO old-school that it's actually intended to link to a slave amp, so turning up one affects both. Anyway, if you use the "out", then it's basically like mic'ing the cab. Woo, 1973.
Most bigger places use a DI first in line so it's less of an issue than it might be, really.

Trufax. Did you find a gritbox you like yet?
-
• #5575
Not yet... immobilised by options.
Though have discovered that the old Session JD-10 preamp might do the job, ish.
I really like the Texas specials, good find!
