These have taken Brisbane by storm, Tym started stocking them recently and they're flying out the door...

nice setup.
is there a tweeter in that cab? does it need one?
-
• #5455
that's unpossible
-
• #5456
Twtr? Pls. Though you can get one should you choose. The current cabs use even more betterer 12" speakers, and there's a retro 10" range which I'd probably look at if I was buying now.
This cab actually changed my life, it's probably the most practical bit of gear I've ever bought. It'll handle 95% of my pub gigs without PA help, and I can get there by bus. Good folks who make 'em, they're in Brighton.

i'd defs get a tweeter - for all that high end meedelymeedely billy sheehan shit.
Spector's gotta Spector

If you're thinking about it, email main guy Alex at Barefaced, he's phenomenally good at recommending the right cabs for people's needs. I'd wager 10p on him saying Super Midget or Big Baby 2 depending on vol.

i am.
would your rig handle an upright?
-
• #5460
Heck yes, and how. Mind you, the Quilter's a good electric bass/upright compromise, if you're thinking more upright maybe look at Acoustic Image amps?
-
• #5461
ideally i'd want something that can handle both. It'll be mostly for my own edification so not really worried too much about how it'll fill a room. this sounds ideal.
anyway - going to be a while before i can afford one - still, good to know there's a world out there beyond trace pissing elliot.

Trace Elliot? When did you last gig? 1998?
Amp looks great Rickster. Bussable bass rig is a big win.

Line 6 was the new Peavey

Ashdown were the new Quilters, but then they turned out to be the new Line 6.
Somewhat ironically, Orange are still the new Orange.

OK, serious advice required...
My Twin Reverb sounds amazing, I love it, it's the sound of me, but it's much too big and heavy for my back and the lickle shows I'll be doing... It's a late 70s Silverface push/pull master volume job, and I'm pushing the pre-amp tube all the time...
Question is, is there a smaller alternative amp that will give me that sound that won't cost me silly money? Single 12" speaker would be ace, 6L6/12AX7 tubes, master volume, etc... Will a Princeton/Deluxe Reverb/Pro Reverb get me that sound, are they master volume? Thanks!
I'm thinking about selling the AC15C1 and a couple of pedals which should net me around AU$900... I'm thinking OG Super Champ but they're even pricier... Tho' this one could fit the bill!

I'm in the same boat, minus your master volume needs... just sold my Pro Reverb. The conundrum is: OG silverface Deluxe and Princeton probably not loud enough and have no master, Pro available in 70watt master volume form but still way too heavy at 60lbs or so, Super Champ too small and boxy at full chat, OG Rivera-era Deluxe II affected by stupid Super Champ values and too Boogieish; current Fender DeVille too large, Blues Jr too shit. The impossible dream (for me) is a vintage 2x6L6 1x12" combo, which Fender has inexplicably built precisely once - the non-reverb brown Vibrolux combo from '61-'63. A friend has one. It is THAT good.

Vibrolux's are great. Had a brownface reissue at one point when we had a label budget for such things (*sob). Think it was a 2 x 10 though. It was feathery light compared to the Twin.
What about the SF Deluxe re-issues? 1 x 12".2 x 6V6, 22 Watts
They've been around for a year or so now might be starting to crop up s/h?
-
• #5471
Ah, the brown Vibrolux Reverb RI, different circuit to the non-reverb... really good though.
Hearing nice-ish things about the '65 Deluxe Reverb RI, much less nice things about the '68 SF RI, interestingly.
Been looking at the Louis Electric Columbia and the Rift PR18... way too much dough for me right now...
-
• #5472
Harumph! I'd just about convinced myself the Super Champ was my ideal solution, it is small tho'... Is the Deluxe II really that Boogie-ish? Ugh...
Rivera era Concert II?
-
• #5473
Maybe the memory's playing tricks re. Rivera-era Deluxe II... I had one for a bit, actually the clean side wasn't bad, I just hated the overdrive. Concert II's a possible shout. Wait, wasn't there a Fender 75 1x12...? Probably getting back to Twin weight, though.
Never tried one properly myself, but Hot Rod Deluxe?
This is the thing I really want... spotted one for £3k. Sob.

^ That's lovely...
I may have to just drop half the power tubes and take a speaker out... Seems silly to buy ANOTHER amp, right?
I hate the new Fenders with a passion, gutless and no personality... We've got one at work, not good...

I'm not a fan either. The only one I like was the smallest one, the Pro Jnr with EL84s. Small and boxy sure but had a bit of character about it (as opposed to that transparent gutless sheen you get from the Hotrod series). Appealing portability and simplicity too with 1x10 and only two knobs. Giggable through a PA for the stuff I do. Not so much for RAWK tho. There a gearmandude vid where he sticks one in a nice tweed 1x12 cab and it sounds great.
Back to your issue though, I don't think any of those deluxe or princeton re-issues have a master vol.
Nice. Don’t know much about Quilter except the dude from Deerhoof using em
