Found my king slide whilst looking for the paperwork for TS's guitar the other day. I miss my old resonator and want something to play slide on. Looking on eBay, why are all the shitty cheap old acoustics so expensive these days!?

Figure out a price, Al, and gimme a holler... Bernie's gonna recap my Twin over the next week so it makes sense to get him to do some valve voodoo at the same time...

bass chat!
Here's my Epiphone Jack Casady - plays lovely
I tried one of those recently and loved it, I'm getting a bit worried about using my 1967 Framus Star bass out and about and was thinking of replacing it with one of those.
On another note entirely has anyone on here got a DAT I can use for a few hours? I've got some old demo's that need converting to WAV/FLAC files. Happy to pay in beer etc

Not quite as dildo as the warwick corvette.
-
• #2467
wow. warwicks are pound for pound, arguably the most overpriced guitar out there. according to wikipedia, they host 'camps' in germany to teach people how to play them...
you know who else liked hosting camps in germany...?

Haha well I never, Godwin's law in the guitar nerd thread! Yeah, they are pricey but I reckon pound for pound fenders are the biggest rip off.
I had a 1996 corvette fretless when I was at uni, it sounded beautiful but was heavy as fuck and the neck was proper baseball bat.
Got a much nicer fretless these days with a lovely slim neck.

yeah i'm a bit over the whole thru-neck, chinstrap, sculpted look. spector's get away with it because they have side-stepped the jazz-funk wobby-wobby association you tend to get with a lot of thru-neck, top spec instruments. hey ho, next stop:

Oh for the heady days of 90s acid jazz...

Generally agree though, can't bear the 'coffee table' basses with all their fancy wood tops and so forth. Although my number one bass is still a DeArmond Pilot DLX 5. Had it since I was 16 and just haven't found another bass that plays and sounds like it. Looks a bit jazz though.

I've got a Warwick Corvette, they are dildotastic. At the time (bought it about 10 years ago) they were quite good value for money when you consider the workman ship that's gone into it & the quality of the parts esp when compared to what Fenders & the like were shipping with...

fuckinell. it looks like a space ship.
my first was a hohner made out of MDF and nails. it was shit.

Hello guitar people, I don't hang out in this thread much but...
The other day I bought myself a new acoustic, not for any really good reason, aside from I've had my Yamaha FG300 for about 10 years and spotted this.
It's a 1973 Italian EKO Ranger 6, as played by Jimmy Page, despite being 40+ years old it's in almost perfect condition. Obviously I play guitar like Jimmy Krankie and not Jimmy Page, but it's a nice idea. The previous owner had it from new (apparently) and when I decided that yes, I will buy it, he looked all tearful. He asked to play one last song on it too, nice guy.
It's got a few pretty cool features too. I'm not the biggest fan of the Batmanesque scratchplate design, but it's of an era, so it'll be staying. The back and sides of the body have an awesome almost feathered effect created by the woodgrain, so that's nice. There's a load of internal bracing within the body, it's heavy but feels impregnable. The action is adjustable at the bridge which I've not seen on an old acoustic before and unlike lots of acoustics, there's actually a 0 fret in addition to the nut. The truss rod is accessed from the headstock too, instead of within the body. Good or bad? I don't care, but it's just another little funky touch.
Anyway, there's my new guitar. Cheers
PS - Is anyone interested in a Tanglewood Electric?
Ha that's great! I recorded my last record on one of those Ekos, brilliantly huge sounding guitars. I didn't even realise they were a thing, a pal of mine's dad had one and left it in London when they emigrated and she just ended up with it. Jimmy fuckin' Page eh. Ace.
EDIT - check it, same guitar. Amaze.
Back in acousticland, Found this lurking at the back of the Chandler's website. Thinking about making a trip over there to check it out.

My only concern is that I can't recall what wattage (identical layout) model I've been using at the pub is. Whatever it is it's just about perfect.
If the one I've been using is the 100w model and this is the 40w one, it's not going to cut it.
