Hi everyone.
might not be the right place to post but I'm after an albini-esque pedal distortion, basically harsh and brash like a harmonic percolator. Has anyone got anything? -
• #1106
MXR Dime Distortion, it'll rip you a new one mate!
-
• #1108
nah sorry mate nothing like that!
I ain't no shredder. It's hard to find an example of the kind of tone i'm after especially on youtube, sorry. Will post something later..

You'd be surprised the tones you can get with that pedal with a bit of playing around. Otherwise I'd say it's hard to beat a Tubescreamer

cheers for replying.
yeah ended up borrowing an ehx germanium od, and then getting one off ebay for £33.
they are good for both 60s-esque overdrive, and really nasty, clipping sounds (voltage control), should be good through a nice amp! -

just after some feedback on a couple of recent recordings:

they're from a home session we did a month ago. I think the guitar sound is lovely. The guitarist was using a pretty horrible guitar made up of a bad lp copies body and an encore strat neck, with some fairly decent (i think) pickups, through some temperamental home built pedals and a rather lovely laney amp. The recording is a little rough - was done in a front room in one take with vocals added later in the bathroom (bathroom acoustics leave a lot to be desired).
i'm playing bass by the way.

I went to see Duran Duran last night (for a show that will be on Radio 2 on thursday night) at Sheperd's Bush Empire. Whatever your opinion of the band they can genuinely play well and are usually brilliant live. It was the first time I had seen them since Andy Taylor left (for the second time)
I always thought Andy was a decent player, underrated and undervalued, and his 90s replacement, Warren Cuccurillo, had the chops, but their new bloke, Dom Brown was, not to mince words, rather shit. No timing, kept fluffing notes, kept missing cues, A complete amateur on a stage full of professionals. I've never seen a 'proper' band and thought "I'm loads better than that guy" before. It was weird seeing someone so obviously less talented than the rest of his band.I thought maybe it was a nerves or something but I checked out his site and listened to a couple of tracks, and they are excruciating, embarrasing crap. How the fuck did he land the Duran gig?
It was like me being in the GB sprint team. On a Pashley.

A gentleman is someone who knows how to play the piano-accordion, but doesn't.
Some gear of mine...I could go on.
