I enquired with guitarguitar.co.uk today, and they said you can pre-order now for mid-April delivery, £279. I might go for this unless there are any better deals going.
(I sold it to MrsPub as a really useful Bluetooth streaming device which you can also plug your guitar into.) -

Seems like a perfect opportunity for a drive out to the land of your peoples... What colour was it?

2013 Gibson ‘61 Reissue SG in Classic White. Rich even offered to meet him halfway, but apparently no one is allowed in or out of the wales because it's all gone a bit Escape From Swansea.

That's a shame, I wouldn't give up if I were you... In other news, suburban stackage is now in effect...

Looks like you can pick them up on eBay for around RRP.
If you do get one, I’d be very interested to hear how you get on with it. Seems like a perfect living room amp! -

I’m very jealous of your set up. Looks amazing!

Noice!
Hurry up kids, move out, I need your bedroom! -

Looks wicked.
What’s the white box? Step down transformer, power conditioner...?
-
• #10987
Yeah, just a step down transformer... I foolishly forgot that buying an amp from the USA was gonna require one, it's not as big a deal as I feared tho'... I did find a place in Germany selling NOS early 80s Fender 220v transformers if I ever decide to go down that route, not too expensive either...
Thanks for the kind words, folks... Feels great to finally have a space to work in...

Looks fantastic dude!

Both my Fenders are US 110v. Not an issue really. The transformer for the champ even fits in the bottom of the cab, so apart from weight I forget it’s there.

Thanks everyone for the advice RE humbucker to single coil conversion.
I really like @Regal 's suggestion of humbucker sized P90's, would like to go a step further and have regular soapbar P90s.
I'm a bit confused as to why P90s are said to not fit in a humbucker cavity yet these guys say they have done just that with a 3D printed mount.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aOlfl0t0Nhw&t=1266s
Either the cavity's long enough or not no? Little to no info on the Wolftone site.

I think it's borderline and depends on how things have been routed. They are slightly different shapes and mount differently. Without a cover like that (which as they say in the video was 3D printed to exactly the right shape for that guitar) you would certainly see a gap around the edge of the P90.
-
• #10994
Yeah I think that all the cover is doing is allowing you to mount the P90 level with the strings, by reproducing the exact shape of the humbucker's mount.
The overall length of the Gibson mount HB is only 4mm longer than a soapbar P90, so some routing is very likely.
Not worth it for my guitar, will get some HB sized P90's or maybe restore it as is.

Normally with a P90 you have height adjustment of the whole pickup via the mounting screws. That’s what they were saying in that video, with the adaptor you lose that ability to set the overall pickup height (though you can still adjust the pole pieces).
Having googled it a bit more out of curiosity, I think the routing issue is to do with the corners needing to be routed out more for the P90s - that the shape is squarer and/or deeper at the corners?
I (obviously) have no hands-on experience though.

Anyone has experience with AliExpress or similar B5 copies? Will be building up a pretty cheap partscaster Tele in the next month or two and tempted to put a Bigsby on it but don't want to pay full whack. Already have a Wilkinson bridge but happy to move it on/just keep the compensated saddles if need be.
-
• #10997
Someone on here had a moody Bigsby alongside a real one at some point didn't they - maybe they can provide more details? Was it @Fatberg on his Casino?
From what I remember you could definitely tell the difference when they're sat next to each other, what that means when they're on the guitar, not sure.

Hive mind help please - have had my new sire p7 v2 bass for 3 weeks now. Tonight when switching to active mode it went completely mute - no sound at all. On passive mode it’s fine but inexplicably the active mode isn’t working at all.
Am I right in assuming this is likely down to faulty wiring rather than battery gone/anything else?
Am going to call Andertons tomorrow but am a bit worried/irritated/anxious.

I’d probably pop out for a couple more 9V batteries before returning it, can never be sure of the condition of the batteries in a new instrument. I’ve had my P7 for a year and not run it flat yet, so no idea if it would gradually fade in active mode or just stop dead. Remember to unplug the jack when not in use.
Really like the bass though. If the headstock on the M series was nicer I’d probably get one of those too.

I'd definitely check the battery first. I have an active bass, and no sound comes out when the battery is dead. I think that on basses where you can switch the 'active' bit off, everything works normally with a dead battery in passive mode.
Have you been leaving it plugged in when you're not playing? Usually plugging in a cable switches the bass on, so leaving the cable in drains the battery.
I’m gonna try 11s on my mustang, but short scale + probably tuning down a tone will balance it out I think.
It looks like I’m gonna be contributing guitar parts to my bands next record, which should be entertaining. Vintage mustang mixing it up with ESPs tuned to drop G
