Blackburn. My pedal-o-meter's fucked up. On their site they say lifetime warranty. I've sent 3 mails to the address shown on their support page, none of which they've replied to. The way they deal with support requests appears to be to ignore the customer till they go away. Wankers.

You must have had some really shit service if that deserves a mention in the Good service thread.

Royal Fail lost my parcel containing a Tynan Tshirt and other bits ( I went 3 times to the depot and were useless every time). I was ready to claim for compensation myself but Shelley at SJSC said that they would handle the claim themselves (without me asking) and she sent me a new parcel the next day by recorded delivery to make sure it'll get to me.
+1 to SJS.

Chamberlain's K-Town. Needed to kill some time while waiting for someone. A nice chat with Owenreed, and discount on a chain checking tool that they had knocking around. Result.

Graham Drummond in Archway. Doesn't have many fans on here but he's been awesome to me. Found his workshop by chance (didn't realise who it was until he gave me a business card) when I was looking for a temporary replacement fork after my recent accident. He's lent me a fork and front wheel until my replacement fork arrives from Bob Jackson. He's been nothing but super helpful. Good at keeping you in the loop too. Two thumbs up from me.

Action Bikes in Wimbledon, good prices on spokes - and nice guys, although I don't go in there for much. Same can be said for Greg & Co at Moose Cycles, Colliers Wood.
Will @ Hubjub and Chris @ Swrve goes without saying. Aweome service, always.

Garmin
My cadence sensor went awry after a few months, - new battery sent out free of charge.
The mounting bracket got broken and a new one was sent out free of charge.
Both times no questions asked.

+1 for Wiggle. They noticed that the post is dodgy in London right now, but they're so hell-bent on getting stuff to you in record time that they've switched London deliveries to City Link till the situation resolves.
+1 for Condor too. Competent service and excellent range. Wish my route to Gray's Inn wasn't so unpleasant.

Is quick postage, especially since you chose a courier option, really "good service"?
I consider good service things like Will writing little notes in his packages or answering your repeated stupid questions. Or Bike Whisperer sorting you out with parts after hours or rushing jobs through for deadlines or giving you ferrules for nothing. Even some guy in Evans down south trying his best to match some stupid Mavic part and giving it to me free since he wasn't sure it was the right one. There was a guy in Waterloo Evans who just had a good chat when I'd just arrived in London. He was really nice. Random stuff like that.

I took my bike in to Bikeworks next to Vicky Park to sort out a funny sprocket that i couldn't work out what was wrong with a few weeks ago. while it was there, they noticed one of my cranks was bent, found an identical one from their spares, and fitted it for a fiver. they also do good community cycle workshops etc, so bonus points for niceness too.

All the guys and girls at Cyclopolis in Balham are rather nice - they mostly do commuter stuff, but happy to talk you through any tech query or get in any parts.
I nipped in there to buy some stock brake blocks for my girlfriend's Raleigh Stowaway last week and, just before I paid, one of the mechanics nipped into the workshop and remerged with a loose pair of blocks with a leather inset that he insisted would be vastly better for the old steel rims on her bike and were cheaper to boot. Nice one.
Conversely, Psubliminal (across the road, also in Balham)... not so good in my experience.

Spa Cycles.
I believe they have a bit of a sketchy rep, but they got some stuff to me in record time and were extremely helpful on the phone. Sometimes you just need someone to give you a straight answer and they know certainly their stuff. Great deal on Ortliebs at the minute also.

+1 for Brixton Cycles
Everyone there, and I mean everyone, is always amazingly helpful, knowledgeable and friendly.
Everytime I go in there the service is great.
Their morning emergency repair hour is brilliant. AND even though I now no longer live in Brixton I still cycle the 16km there to buy stuff as it’s cheap, I value their opinion and expertise and they are really lovely people.

I think it is - they have not only processed the order on their end but they choose to work with a courier that gets stuff there on time and in one piece.
Good service is always in the eye of the receiver - their expectations have been exceeded. Therefore it is good service.

I do like Will's* notes - that man has a good system. I ordered some risers for the Ms' build recently and he asked me about the noodle bars I've had for the last 18 months. Awesome personal touch. Clearly however the "Personal Touch Thread" would have gotten so derailed so quickly it would have been forum thread suicide.

Fair enough. I stick by 'quick postage' not being good service, it's just 'nice'. :)
If you had awesome responses from a shop and then Parcelfarce fucked the delivery.. is that bad service?
-
• #75
You're very philosophical today Hippy...
I think that if the delivery company screws up and the shop offers to help you out by kicking up a fuss on their end, then yes. That is good service.
If they say - not our problem - then that is bad service.
Chris from Swrve UK. Let me swing past his office in Brixton to try on some 'kernickers', made me a cup of tea and shot the shit for half an hour. Also went back to his office when I rang him to google up the Lamb, which as I'm sure you lot knew is not on fucking Conduit Street but Lamb Conduit Street.
Nice guy, great gear.
