Up to London yesterday from the friendly backwater that is Bristol, lock beater in Shoreditch high street, coffee in LMNH, Brooks stolen. Back to LMNH at 5 ish, workshop very closed, explain plight, they happily fetched me a new saddle, lent me tools to fit it, didn't mock me for West Country trustworthiness fail. Such service, much impressed. Wow.

Big ups Lezyne - I've got one of their top dog CNC track pumps but the pressure gauge had gone south.
I emailed in and they sent me a new gauge and instructions on fitting it, no proof of purchase or warranty or anything, just asked for my address and mailed the bastard out.
Top chaps.

London Cycle Workshop on St John's Hill in Wandsworth. They've fitted every part I've ever bought free of charge.
Can't imagine any of the chain stores doing that. More to the point, I wouldnt trust them to fit a fucking bell.
They've also made loads of adjustments on limit screws etc free of charge. Good guys who know their bikes inside out.

hmm not necessarily agree that services done uncharged = good service. Maybe its winter and they are running some kind of service offer like every shop is.

Well aforementioned shop on St John's Hill didn't know what a uniglide hub was and refused to find out, incorrectly fitted a threaded freewheel and didn't tighten up a bb after a regrease. I gave them three chances when they were my LBS then gave up and cycled to Brixton.

this thread is probably meant for lbs but I ordered some wheels from Ribble this morning, forgot to use a discount code, one email later and they refunded the difference. thought it was very good customer service
also LMNH, always good service and always have the weird part in I need (campag rear mech barrel adjuster / speedplay compatiable grease gun etc)

Jacob from 14BikeCo.
I sent him an unsolicited 4 line email outlining my frustration with spline cranks and got a 7 paragraph 2000 word missive in reply. Top tips, sound advice and i actually learned something.
Consummate Pro's.
Give them all of your money.

Shorter-Rochford in Potters bar. Fixed my bike up after being hit by a car and went above and beyond the call of duty. Even the smallest details were taken care of and they gave lots of help with the insurance claim too.

Cycle PS...generally nice guys regardless but a few weeks ago I took a hub and rim to be built by them.
When I went to pick it up they said they'd left me a message (my vm is rubbish so I never check it) to let me know they hole count on the rim and the hub were different. I am a bit shit with numbers but I DID count them both, honest.
Their mechanic was actually apologising to me and making excuses for me. I know it wouldn't be very professional to be all short and huffy with me making him get so far and then undo work, but I've had plenty of other bike shop staff being huffy and short with me for much less!

Freeman's in Norwich again. Grabbed the back of my saddle to lift the bike over the front doorstep, saddle bracket snapped off and fell to the floor, the "S" bit. Looked at the fracture and a third of the diameter of the break was oxidised, must have cracked ages ago. Rode it carefully to the shop and Mr Freeman fitted this:
Selle Royal Alpine Athletic Bike Saddle - Black, 25.6 x 15.8 cm: Amazon.co.uk: Sports & Outdoors
and charged me £20. Gonna give him a tray of tomato seedlings I've got in the greenhouse unless I forget or can't be bothered.

Ordered a hub from Bdop on Saturday - a 24h rear fix/fix Novatex hub, which seemed difficult to find elsewhere.
It arrived on Wednesday, well packaged and with no import charges.
I also bought a pair of Gore mitts from Hargroves Cycles the other week, which turned out to be a bit too large. I emailed them and filled out their returns authorisation, and received the replacement pair the day after I had posted the other ones back. Very pleased!

Really good service from cyclesurgery in Moorgate today. They did a price match for me on a sale item from a bike shop in Manchester who happened to have an online store. £90 shoes rather than £135 - well chuffed. The lady was helpful and got me a few sizes etc etc too.
Shame their Keo cleats are £20 though. Should have price checked on them too, thinking about it...

Yeah you can normally get them for about £11. Moorgate was always a good CS, the boss there is a good chap if it's still Tim.
Just had great service from ProBikeKit. An order this morning messed up, because PayPal didn't give them the money, I think they were trying to do a pay after delivery thing. Reordered the very well priced stem tonight, emailed them the situation at half 7, and straight away got the 10% discount I lost on the cancelled transaction. Very good.

Push Cycles in Newington Green.
The mechanic sorted my slightly bent rear derailleur hanger for a contribution to the coffee fund. Never had anything less than great service from those guys.
Pain au chocolat from the place next door on me next time I'm passing dude.

This came a couple of days ago, with an energy drink sachet and a free bottle of Lipton Iced Tea.
Your move, Wiggle.

Thanks to the gent (Diego?) @ Cycle Surgery Spitalfields for sorting me out with a couple of bottle cage mount bolts, gratis. Much appreciated.

I visited Peloton&Co today in Spitalfields to take part in the Kask amnesty offer (you trade in any helmet and get the Vertigo, usually £165, for £100.) I'd never heard of the place but it's a really nice little cafe with good food and even better beer. However, the best part about it is that they let me keep my current Kask helmet! So I didn't even have to trade anything in. Two thumbs up from me.

Forgot to come on here and thank the forumenger who works in Cycle Surgery at the velodrome, Stratford. I was changing a tube and my whole rear mech effectively collapsed on me for no good reason. I wouldn't have got home without his patience, oily hands and advice. Cheers to you sir. I hope the etape treated you well.

Can it be ANY helmet? or does it have to be kask?

Any helmet at all. I was gonna buy a cheap one and trade that in, but as he let me keep mine I'm glad I didn't.
Bike Fix on Lamb's Conduit, Spanish or Italian guy in there is the single most helpful person I've met in a bike shop.
Looking to replace just the rear axle of a friends bike I was turned away from three other shops for who it was obviously too much trouble, he goes for a rummage and digs out just what I need and my friend gets to cycle home...
