  • Snapped the bracket on my light last week.

Ordered a replacement from UKbikestore.co.uk yesterday at 15.28
Received confirmation of shipping at 17.04
    Parcel received this morning.

It's only the second time I've used the place in question but I intend to throw more business their way. Amazing service.

  • Excellent Dr Bike service/rescue/general "you really ought to have noticed that sooner" comments from Dancing James today.

    Pedals installed superbly, thank you!

  • Velosolo, again. Always a pleasure

This. Made an order this morning, I will never tire of their super fast, super cheery service.

  • +1 for high on bikes ordered yesterday received today royal mail 1st class free shipping

  • I’ve had some great service recently.

    Yesterday: Look Mum No Hands.
They managed to remove an extremely obstinate screw stuck in my sidis and didn’t charge me for it despite it being a massive pain in the backside. Thanks guys!

    Today: Evans Clapham.
I went in because my pathetically weak hands couldn’t change my pedals. I didn’t get laughed at, the very nice guy did it for me and was generally really helpful and really nice – and didn’t charge me either. Thank you!

  • Montane.

I've used a Montane H2o jacket for a number of years (as recommended off this forum actually) but lost the handy little stuff sac it comes in.
I emailed their website last night, got a reply from the lovely Kay this morning, who found one in the office and popped it in the post to me today free of charge.

  • Cycle Surgery Shebu. ALWAYS helpful.

  • I posted it in the Pompino thread but ordering a frame off On One was a joy

Just taken delivery of my £99 frame today. I have to say that it was one of the best online delivery processes I've ever been through. You get an email and a text to confirm order, confirm dispatch, confirm the day and confirm the actual time of delivery (to within one hour) including the driver's name (Theo).

  • Excellent service today at East Central Cycles.

Went in with a slow puncture, left half an hour later with a puncture free tyre, shiny new chain and cog and the super lovely chaps didn't charge me for the labour.

    Thanks guys!

^Nice to meet you and have a quick chat in there earlier.

They are indeed a decent bunch in East Central. Have been very good with my partner's new bike - took a bit of time but made sure everything was right.

  • ^ Hi, again! Lovely to have a natter today. Glad they sorted your partner's bike too.

Ping me when you've moved to my neck of the woods :)

  • ^^ Will certainly get in touch when we have moved south.

Really hoping to get in there before the Olympics - fingers crossed.

  • Cycle Premier in Leicestershire

Got a brand new campag centaur chainset off these guys on ebay yesterday for £70 paid £3.95 postage at 12:45pm they arrived this morning at 7:45am before I left for work.

    How is that even possible.

Fastest thing I have recieved ever esspecially given the cheap postage.

  • Condor, for exchanging my weirdly faulty Mission Workshop Rambler even though I had lost my receipt.

  • SJS cycles for special ordering a rare mudguard sizes from a notoriously difficult company to deal with (Gille Berthoud 650B 50mm).

the price is exactly the same as the one they have in stock, win.

  • Urban Cyclery in Swansea.

Excellent web order service. Ordered a couple of Mission bags from them now and Ty over there has been really on the ball with communication and delivery.

  • The London Cycle Workshop. http://www.thelondoncycleworkshop.co.uk/
Popped a spoke on a Mavic ksyrium on the way out to the TT yesterday.
Didn't have a spare in stock so they lent me a bike to ride out there.
Picked up my bike on the way back and left with no money changing hands! I'll buy the spoke and more stuff as soon as they get the order in though.
Service way beyond expectations, absolute win.

I've only just noticed this and whilst SJS undoubtedly came up with good service, I am curious as to why Giles Berthoud are "notoriously difficult to deal with".

The reason I ask, is that the one occasion I have had to deal with Giles Berthoud direct, I found him incredibly helpful and wrote him up on this thread as a result. The good people at Bicycle Workshop on All Saints Road suggested I speak to him direct and that he was very helpful - I have to agree based on my only experience dealing with him.

  • Perhaps they're simply speaking from a reseller point of view rather than a customer's, of which often tend to be two different thing entirely.

  • Fair enough.

FWIW - he sells direct via his website and I think that is the route I will take if I buy any more GB products.

  • Get a grip bicycles in Battersea. Good bike shop & great service.

I would be I like to deal with a reseller if the product end up defect, it's much easier to do.

I understand and agree to a large extent - if stuff goes wrong it is generally easier to deal with a reputable UK reseller to sort it out.

However, my experience with Gilles Berthoud was that I bought a saddle from Dot Bike as it was cheap. As the saddle broke in, the tension bolt became loose and fell out during a ride. I heard something during the ride but carried on going and the bolt was gone.

Unfortunately, nobody over here seems to keeps stock of the tension bolt alone. I spoke to Bicycle Workshop and they suggested speaking to Gilles Berthoud direct and gave me an e-mail address to contact him. I e-mailed Gilles Berthous to ask about the price of buying a new tension bolt. He responded by saying a new one was in the post (using my office autosignature address) and it arrived about two days later.

I am happy with the after sales service I received and for that reason wrote about him on this thread. As above, I also appreciate where you are coming from.

I think that the product is somewhat difficult to source here and, given previous experience, any after sales support will likely be best handled by Gilles Berthoud. I am very happy with the experience I have had on the only occasion I have had to deal with him.

Have to say that the GB mudguards are bloody nice - very good choice!

  • Corridori Cycle Sport in Epsom: Mrs Earthloop took my bike in today to get them to fix what I was sure was a noisy BB. Loose headset tightened, problem solved, no charge.
