  • Can't see any reason to change. Speedplay work really well for me. Hated look pedals and like the double sided aspect to the speedplplays.

  • Are these Abike Co Hamilton Pedals Unsealed?

Have these with powergrips on my touring bike and they're pretty good for lazy pootling around riding.
I like bmx pedals a lot but wouldn't run em on fixed, my tourer has a low bb and i trash the pedals nearly every time i pedal through a corner, bit scary the first few times but its all good.
Seals seem pretty good, spin nice and smooth still. Still got all the grubs screws even.

  • What's the difference between sealed and unsealed?

  • If you can pedal your bike then they'll do the job.

Personally, I'll never ride unclipped again unless it's technical or trick oriented and since I'll probably never ride anything technical or trick oriented again...
    +1

    0.o UTFS :)

  • What's the difference between sealed and unsealed?

exactly what it said, sealed as in stop getting dirt and such from getting inside the pedal.

  • and a few quid in price.
Spend a tiny bit more for a huge difference in lifespan. There are lots of really nice platform pedals out there if you're willing to spend the coin, you can also get cheap unsealed for about a tenner if you're feeling cheap.

    £90 of pedal porn

  • plastic platforms are good as well, even cheaper and less carnage to your shins if it goes wrong. my gf has seventies plastic platforms on her bike, £15ish blb. Unsealed

  • Unsealed would be ideal for straps and stuff though right?

Not unless you like cleaning/replacing bearings regularly. Pedals get covered in shite just from riding on a wet road, get sealed and forget about stuff like that.

  • Good conversation, great sex.

  • ...and somewhere to put my cleat.

  • My god - neither..... shock horror! Now let me explain! I basically had to buy a new bike for a triathlon last month. As I didn't fancy doing it on a single speed I got a tap which as a hub gear with 8 of those little babies in it.. I like my bike (but get bike envy daily) - ho hum, if only we were all flush with cash.
Ahh, so I don't really need to be attached to my steed, and I don't wear cleats, just flat skate type shoes.

Lyotard 23 are the pedals for you (imho).

  • Sorry, I thought it said 'What do you look for in a paedo?'

  • The Lyotards are top pedals, you just missed out on a pair I had but ebay has a pair or two.

Take your pick. I still think the 23s are one of your best bets.
I have a pair on my my Moser, and love them dearly.

Lilly, like I said, sealed mean the inside of the pedal is protected by the elements (unsealed mean the pedal run smoother but not protected), i.e. stop dirt from getting inside and wearing out the ball bearing thus shorten the lifespan of a pedal.

I get it. And please don't call me Lilly, Egg.

  • Anyway, back to the OP: why would a 12 yr old boy's legs be scared? Of what are young legs frightened?

Same reasons as mine was when I picked up that frame from you

  • Bottle cage.

ask your GF what pedal translated to Polish means ;o))

  • Don't worry about that, it's only a concern if you ride fixed and therefore can't lean too far into corners, everyone else freewheels around such bends with outer pedal low.

Er, not true, depends what you're riding fixed, If it's a track frame then your BB will be higher and possibly cranks shorter negating any differences in cornering capabilities between fixed and freewheel.

Yeah and ask yours if you know where you can get a "cheap car".. or if she has some "pennies" to spare :)
