  • Partagas is a noice schmoke

serie D no 4 one of my faves.
i have a Partagas Lusitania in my humidor waiting for the right occasion, fuck knows how much they are to buy over here

  • I have a Partagas Lusitania in my humidor waiting for the right occasion

  • was in Cuba for the winter.

Still have 15 handrolled cigs bought from the farmer, end finished by dipping it in sugar cane stickyness - delightfully mild and very easy (introduction) to smoke. back in london middle of sept, sell on a few if interest, not going to smoke them all, much prefer monte no.2 a la mrsmyth, though at two dorrar a pop much better value!

  • a meaningless cultural reference to most people on here, it's all wees and X-station games these days
    :sigh:

  • anything purchased on the street in cuba as boxed premium brands is usually fake, you can buy from the government run shops where your receipt allows you to export them legally otherwise you run the risk of having your fakes confiscated at the airport.
they are cheap enough to buy from the state run shops.

  • It's not that they are overwhelmingly likely to be fake if you buy them on the street, it's that these cigars are unlikely to have been freeze-treated, with the result that you get them home and your humidor is overrun with weevils. This has happened to me. It's also what shut down the cigar lounge in Marylebone years ago.

  • Iv got some basic smallish spanish cigars knocking about if anyone wants them.

Let me know when you get back, i'm up for taking a few off your hands!

  • There is a really nice cigar shop in Fulham, just off Harwood Road at the base of Walham Greem Estate (next to a push chair shop). A small shop but with really good service and a great selection.

    Monty No.4's for me.

  • My cousin owns a Floridita in Soho, and Boisdale in Belgravia, both stocked to the rafters with fine smokes - he spends most summers in Cuba, and has an insane collection of cigars

Hoyo de Monteray Epicure Number 2 FTW

  • It's worth going for the tasters/samplers if you're not sure of which ones you want to stock up on.

Just go Cuban and you can't go wrong.

  • Cuban are dreamy, but expensive. A brand of equal quality is Don Ramos, from Honduras:

I can't smoke anything anymore, since I was diagnosed with asthma, (and yes, it sucks massive donkey bollocks to love riding, love cigars, then get asthma!) but if I could only smoke one thing again it would be a Don Ramos no2. They only cost about six squid too! Loads cheaper than cuban.

  • Mate, i've had athsma all my life. I smoke fags, cigars etc... fags = a fucking stupid idea, but Cigars... seeing as your not inhaling, or at least not much - i don't find it to be a problem.

By the by, i did try and get cigars at duty free - they had a small but nice selection, but prices were ridiculous - better to just stick to online shopping.

I'm also ashamed to inform that i just bought 2 Chambord - Corona De Luxe from a newsagents in rural France for 4 Euros... needless to say it was a shit idea.

Can you brother, hook a brother up? :)

  • Would love to, but me and him don't always see eye to eye, though Boisdale is well worth a visit if you like your whisky and smokes! I am pretty sure they have got around the smoking ban by having some sort of private flat above the restaurant you can smoke in . .

However there is a good shop in Victoria called Smokers Gift, on Victoria Street opposite the town hall, which has a good selection, though it is not a cigar specialist, more an old school tobacanist. which has a good range of cheaper stuff

  • Villiger Export for a niiiice everyday smoke. Only need to allow 1/2 an hour.

  • i used to like smoking cigars occasionally, but these days i have about three tokes before i ripp the thing open to make a blunt. whats the point in smoking a big smelly thing if it doesnt at least get you stoned.

i'm amazed that somebody who tastes coffee for a living is satisfied with smoking something machine made from the sweepings from a cigar factory floor (and a shit factory at that)

  • So true. I thinks there's a need for a social group.

Uh oh been called out! My wife's dad smokes them, which means I smoke them after dinner at theirs. They're really the only cigars I've had much experience with and I know they don't make me wretch like Hamlets.

An evening of coffee and cigar sampling must be in order. A selection of single malts wouldn't be out of place either. Quilted smoking jackets mandatory.

  • Try Montechristo Mini's, usually just over a fiver for a 10 pack - closest thing you will get to a pleasurable experience for the money

  • I think this thread has opened up a whole new world! Love the simply cigars site, particularly the etiquette page http://www.simplycigars.co.uk/cigar-guide-cigar-etiquette-c-74_94_155.html though it states that one should never smoke more than half the cigar. Those Montecristo A 1998 jobs come in at £36 a piece! I'm gonna blaze that motherfucker to the knuckles.

was just gonna mention, either the 'cristo or the cohiba in a 10pk are great for a weekly dosage.

but if you can stretch your budget - the fatter the cigar, the better
