  • And you'll look awesome.

  • £300 noise-cancelling over-ears FTW.

    Christmas list.

  • Retarded argument... I'm a musician, I think iPod earphones sound absolutely fine for lossy sound formats like mp3, ogg, aac that come out of a piece of junk iPod/laptop... You're idiots...

This is the meme thread... Other shit threads >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

  • Honestly couldn't care less. If you're happy then that's what counts. Some of the best songs I've listened to would sound even worse on decent kit because they've been recorded for a quid in a shoebox or something.

  • If my music sounds the same in my earphones as it does when it comes out of my laptop then I'm happy. This is why I'm happy with ipod earphones.
People that fuss about headphones and sound quality are the same people that etc

I used to listen to led zeppelin on my walkman, on a tape recorded from an LP. The sound was loud, rich and 3 dimensional, and the walkman had adjustable bass and treble so I could keep the sound balanced depending what I was listening to. I did not have trouble finding headphones that sounded good.

I bought an ipod last year, it is quiet, the sound is thin and tinny in comparison. There are different bass/treble settings, which when selected simply make the sound quieter. I tried three pairs of inner ear headphones with no success and gave up. I'm glad you're happy with your ipod, but I cant imagine what kind of music would sound good coming out of a laptop...

  • Get HD25's

  • I still don't like the taste of coffee so what do I know.

I have spent an awful lot of money on distinctly average 12" records partly because I was walking round listening to badly compressed MP3s on cheap headphones, before walked into a record shop where all the vinyl sounded so rich and warm and dynamic by comparison.
I bought them because I thought they were amazing.
They weren't amazing. It was more that MP3 crunches the life out of a track and any other medium by comparison sounds great.

  • at home listening: Grado SR60 +
on the go: Sennheiser IE6 +

    beats >>>

  • '3 dimensional' - really? Sounds like the guff on the back of the box.

I like my decent studio headphones, but I am perfectly happy to make do with standard inners, for practicality. I am aware of lossless and vinyl and tubes etc.. I just don't care that much unless I'm at home.

    this.

3 dimensional = clear, layered, each instrument having a clear identity, and also the sound having a sense of the space it was recorded in.

  • I like Barry the guitar and Malcolm the triangle from behind the bikesheds.

  • pointless muso-musings thread(s)

  • Someone who doesn't have a clue how music is supposed to sound

Good enough for a phone. Why would you want to look like a dork with overhead ones?

  • ennui music cat? are there any more?

Explain that to those wankers who are marketing "HD sound" (whatever it fucking is).
