Monty Python films
controversial. the first film "and now for something completey different" is cack. it was a collection of the most popular sketches re-done for film. all that spontenaity and anarchic wit was lost in the recreation. it's got all the atmosphere of 6th form drama college end of year show.
i'm not fond of the meaning of life either. too dark, too meandering. it's sort of depressing, dream-like and creepy in a grim 70s sort of way. also it's not actually that funny. some great moments as always but way more miss than hit i reckon.
holy grail and brian are just pure relentlessly joyous genius though. everything about them is fantastic, the premise, the stories, the scripts, the delivery, the sets, the scenery, the songs. just pure blinding brilliant from start to end.
having said that i do find find brian in particular quite difficult to sit though now because i killed it with obsessively repeated teenage viewings. and both have suffered the curse of being endlessly quoted by irritating pricks (a la withnail) until you can't watch the films without being annoyed by memories of the school chess-club "ni!"-ing each other to orgasm.
but that's not the film's fault.

I was trying to say realistic for a crime film.
All the murder victoms hade been raped (well it was a crime film). The leading lady was mentally scarred from being abused by her dad.
The leading lady joins the crime solver guy, after being raped by her paroll officer (whom she raped after out of revenge).
The main witness had been raped by someone other than the main offender (why she was slow coming forward).
The crime solver guy had history with a work collegue, and at it appeared she'd had some sort of bad experiance (mrs could'nt remember from the book).I think thats all the female characters covered. Thing is, despite the authors childish attempts to shock, it still somehow manages to be boring.

Agree with all that. Not a big fan of the Holy Grail, but Life of Brian is genius.

Watched a film on TV the other night called vantage point which despite having some decent actors in in it (Sigourney Weaver, Forest Whittaker) was lamentably abysmal.

"Aleaxander" is the worst film I saw recently - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0346491/
despite being set in Greece, everyone has an Irish accent. "Top o de moarning to you dere socrates"
a hilariously bad film.
It's not set in Greece, it's set (mostly) in Asia Minor. And Alex and his mates aren't Greek, they're Macedonian.
Agreed though, the idea of 'lets give all the Macedons Oirish accents' was bloody awful. Aside from that, I'd say it's a reasonable documentary but a crap film.

Starring Danny Dyer...
Some girl on the train yesterday was saying that she was heartbroken after missing Danny Dyer at a book signing(?!), so had to buy herself a KFC to get over it. Totally deadpan, no joke. I despair...

If you don't find Nicolas Cage do an impression of Peter Falk channeling Jack Sparrow on crack for 2 hours excruciating then maybe. For me it was piss poor, wooden acting from almost everyone, one-dimensional characters, and clunky changes in plot, which is a shame because I was expecting better with Herzog as director.

I walked out of the first Transformers movie after 15 minutes. Its the only time ive ever walked out of a movie, I just couldn't handle them destroying my childhood in such a brutal manner.

it was all in good humour. At least I found it to be. As with a lot of his films
