  • mcewan decent ride.

  • Yup, Cav looked fucko'd. Dean did well to get so close behind Petacchi.

  • That was exciting.

  • I fucking love seeing the peloton split around roundabouts. That helicopter view is ace.

  • Nice little shoulder bumping between Cav and Thor. They should have been watching the rest of the riders as well.

Petacchi though. Well done. No crashes for others to blame.

  • Yeah great finish. Never seen Cavendish with so little...Renshaw tore it up in the last K for him too.

Ale-Jet @ age 38 or so? Who da thunk it?

  • When was the green jersey last won by a rider like cavendish?

Er, Zabel? No disrespect to Zabel.

  • Short of a fairly dubious penalty, Cavendish would have won last year.

I see him practicing a more catholic technique this year....

Except for all the points Thor got the next day climbing up hills, which meant the penalty had no actual bearing on the end results?

And dubious eh? Tell that to Haussler who's not racing this tour thanks to Cav's famous line holding skills.

Hmm - I'm no Cav fan boy but i think he was docked 13pts and Thor won by only 10...

As far as the Haussler incident, MC did drift but HH had his head completely down and did end up hooking MC. The spitting thing afterwards was completely out of order, mind.

  • also Thor only went out and got those mid section point because Cav had already been docked the point and everyone was giving him crap, saying that he didn't really earn the Green Jersey. Thor wouldn't have run the stage like that for another 9 [sic] mid stage points, had cav still been challenging...

Cav held everything back for the Champs run in after that, and rightfully so.

  • Cav earnt even more prick points today by sitting up and sulking in the middle of a bunch sprint.

  • +1 - he just doesn't give a fuck about anyone else's safety at the moment.

  • Aye.

  • Nice work by Hondo--at first I couldn't work out what he was doing and thought he'd only lost Petacchi, but Sean Kelly said that he'd deliberately disrupted the Columbia train. That sounds right to me--what do people think?

(Much as Cavendish may not have been fast enough to win even with an undisrupted train.)

  • anyone know where to watch a decent highlights online? Gotta catch up! Cheers

  • I'll be recreating the last twenty minutes of the stage later on in my kitchen using lego to represent the riders. My cat will stand in for the podium. Bring nibbles.

  • sorry nibbles says he does'nt want to come(your cat bit him last time)

  • As for Cav I wonder how much his 'personal life' has had an impact? I think he's great and am surprised that his form has dropped but I guess having a big break up, seeing your brother banged up and good mate almost die might just mess with your head.

I wonder how much the psychological side of things makes a difference and is this coupled with his bad luck (a fair bit of his own making) is causing him to fuck up? I fhe gets a win under his belt it'll make all the difference otherwise it'll be like 2007 again.

I think this is a good point, leaving the sensible longterm love for a supermodel probably seeemed an awesome idea but now the supermodel has dumped him I would imagine he's not so sure...

    .

  • Renshaw said in the post-match interview that he could have lead Cav out better for the sprint. Nah mate, don't put yourself down. Cav spunked it. End of.

  • here we are dissing Cav, talking up GT and BW.
a few years ago the only GB interest was Millar and his doping.
you don't know how lucky you are.

  • yeah right^^ to all the folks saying he looked fucked, what in the last 500 metres he didnt cane it twice as fast as the rest... er, how much did he ride before that today? ffs.

  • The Htc train was pulled apart by good solid tactics. It's great to have a Brit winning the stage, but I was hoping Eddy Bo nailed it.....

  • it;s good to have some new voices on the bike racing thread.
now that geared race bikes are cool.
