Cav doesn't seem to have any fight in him at all. He seems unwilling to put any real effort in anywhere other than the final 5k.
Hushovd fucking works. And isn't a complete fuckwit.
Tor has been out with an injury for a while, so I would'nt expect him to hang-on through the mountains like he has in previous years. Still, he has returned to form so cant be written off.
There is no doubt in my mind that Cav is the better sprinter, but he just seems to be all over the place this year.
Farrar is the most consistent sprinter of the bunch, but Garmin have mixed priorities.
I'd like to bet on Boasson Hagen, but again, is he high enough on Team Sky's list of priorties? He certainly has the techncal ability to survive a treacherous TdF.

Cav
iswas the faster sprinter. Doesn't make him a better sprinter. McEwan is still the best sprinter but he's ancient now and seems to have lost the top end he needs. Since now Cav doesn't have his speed, what has he got? Fuck all. -

Is there a better feed than the ITV one? If so, could someone PM the link. Ta.

Yeah thats kinda what I meant aout Cav.
I'm going to officially go with Boasson Hagen.
I read in the local press, that he can maintain a wheelie for an impressively long time. Never heard it described quite like that before. But hats off.

This is how it should be done..

I find myself wishing someone had passed him a cigar on the home stretch.

You apologist, TSK. :P
It's a bike race, get on with the racing. The route has been known since last October, many of today's peleton raced these same roads in the spring. HTFU peloton.
yup. The finish was a complete joke for me. They should just not bother with any more stages as there could be some more crashes in which the main contenders could loose time. Just pull the winner out of a hat- Cheaper, simpler and much safer. Perhaps Cancellara would be happy then. The big gay puff.

Farrar has a hairline fracture of his wrist but will start today. (He's taken a hefty dose of HTFU). Christian Vande Velde has broken ribs and won't start so Garmin's priorities have changed again. They'll be about stage wins now I think.
I think Hushovd is a nailed on certainty for the green jersey this year.

Good news for Millar then.

Millar will be on the attack all day today.

David Millars comeback?

The opinion up here seems to be that hes been out of the saddle too much this year (illness, injuries etc.). He is back on form, no doubt, but can pull himself over the mountains and nick some extra points?
More to the point will he need to?It'll mean taking a lot of flack from locals (as with last year :( ), but I still like the idea of Edvald steeling the green jersey.

He's pretty banged up from his own crash yesterday. I think today might be the cycling equivalent of last man standing.

Today was bullshit btw. Sprint. Fuck that whiny Swiss bastard and the failed GC contenders ffs. If you get caught in a crash you get caught in a crash. You don't need to stop the sprint. If the GC boys wanna wait then let them wait, the sprinters shouldn't though. Fucks.
Hippy for ITV Pundit!
yeah a lot of respect to big Thor last year. i think the green jersey is wide open this year and if he shows the aggresion he showed last year then why not.
so chuffed the tour has started, even the prologue threw up some drama and yesterdays crash strewn stage was awesome. and the WC will come to a close just as this takes off.
see some of you fuckers in the same place as last year. black coffee or Gs in hand.
J-man. Any plans for an afternoon of Beers and the Tourmalet?

Is there a radio station I can listen to this on? If I have a video feed on at work I won't get anything done (though it is a shame to miss all the amazing scenery).

• #546
Radio 5 are doing the last hour on-line but not sure about other options.

just going back to yesterday - would it make sense that Cancellara reigned the group together to allow the Schlecks to fully engage with the peloton, whilst "pretending" to be doing it for the good of the tour........?
(I didn't get to see much of it yesterday)
^I've got some. Straight from the horses mouth :)
