what riders do people think will perform well tomorrow, and why?
The sprint is on to get to the front before the bottle neck at the cobbles and the carnage that will inevitably ensue.

Hushvod will perform as he has the cobbes experience and is unlikely to have anyone else to work for.
As I've said before I think cancellara will be more concerned about helping the Schlecks.
But it's a tough one to call. I think carnage and a group of 30 to 50 including some but not all of the GC riders. I think there will be echoes of 1999 when Zulle lost his chance of overal on the Passage du Gois. At least one GC rider will loose a stack of time tomorrow.

Cav and Cancellara.
Both big riders able to power through the stones, and both have something to prove.
Wiggins and Armstrong as well. Wiggins needs to make up time, and Armstrong may see this as a chance to lose Contador.
I have none of those riders on my team. Can't afford any of them.

Can't see Cav doing anything all tour and certainly not tomorrow. I think Wiggins is the ony GC rider to have finished Paris Roubaix with possibly the exception of Evans.
Be interested to see how both David Millar and Gee Thomas do? Gee won Roubaix as a junior and Millar can handle the cobbes. I can see a breajk getting time tomorrow as no one will be overy keen on chasing and either, or both of them should look to be in it.

If you don't think Cav's going to do anything all tour, maybe I should dump Renshaw...
-
• #507
Nah, he'll pick up some placings for you after Cav quits! :)
-
• #508
ha, maybe. Without Hansen he's got a lot more work to do though... I'm going to give Gerrans a go instead.

You love the Aussies don't you..

Today was bullshit btw. Sprint. Fuck that whiny Swiss bastard and the failed GC contenders ffs. If you get caught in a crash you get caught in a crash. You don't need to stop the sprint. If the GC boys wanna wait then let them wait, the sprinters shouldn't though. Fucks.

in other bike related news, cyclesurgery were showcasing their bikes for the bike to work scheme INSIDE my office today, as i become a contractor so cant get cycle to work.
If you're a contractor then you can expense your bike or cycle to work. If it's a commuter bike.

Cav doesn't seem to have any fight in him at all. He seems unwilling to put any real effort in anywhere other than the final 5k.
Hushovd fucking works. And isn't a complete fuckwit.

He can't ride for toffee this year though.

Yes but that is KOM not the points cassification.

• #519
ah, thought i remembered Thor sprinting for a mid stage point last year in one of the mountains.
-
• #520
Yeah, there are intermediate sprint points. That did happen. He also collected a bunch of KOM points which, if I remember correctly, was a bit of a pisser for some of the KOM competitors as there weren't many left at that point.

yeah a lot of respect to big Thor last year. i think the green jersey is wide open this year and if he shows the aggresion he showed last year then why not.
so chuffed the tour has started, even the prologue threw up some drama and yesterdays crash strewn stage was awesome. and the WC will come to a close just as this takes off.
see some of you fuckers in the same place as last year. black coffee or Gs in hand.

Are these tasty? Want.
There's a Chinook flying over us now btw. .
According to his twitter feed, Simon Gerrans agrees with Thor. This was RT'd by Sky, which I guess means Sky agrees with Cervelo (that is, they were there to race. The "protest" was shameful).
