^ that is fucking brilliant.

Is it a Mavic neutral service bike? they are yellow.....think they may have clips and straps too...as there are so many different pedal systems in the bunch that they could never provide enough spare bikes with all the different types

It's definitely a Mavic neutral service bike (which, for the anoraks out there, are unbranded Cannondale CAAD9s).

In the future everyone will be AndyP for fifteen miniutes.
If we could co-ordinate it to meet with nappy changing times that'd be perfect.

"Finally, the race organizers got me a bike, but it was this little yellow junior bike. It was way too small for me and even had old-fashioned toe-clip pedals."

Tall riders can still ride small bikes, small guys can't ride bikes that are too big, so it wouldn't surprise me if the Mavic car had smaller frames in general...or maybe they had just run out of larger bikes......I've often wondered just how often the Mavic bikes are used, you don't see it often, but maybe it's because they are most often used right at the back of the race for riders whose team cars are up the road and it's purely a measure to allow the rider to stay in the race rather than retire / get eliminated.

can somebody please tell me what's funny about that strip in general? it seems that because it's 'about a cyclist' it gets posted all the time, but no one really wants to admit it's quite shockingly unfunny.

The Giro and the Vuelta shit on the Tour.
this is the current perceived wisdom, but for me, the problem is that you don't get a full line up of the 'best in the world' at either race, because they are all focusing on the tour.
So you don't get to see how , say, contador fares against shleck or cavendish against pettachi or whatever.plus, waay too many ities and dagoes.
did i say that last bit out loud?

Here's a trivia question which has been annoying me since the weekend:
which rider won a tour stage despite having walked over the finish line with his bike over his shoulder?
A pint for the person who gets it right.

Jens has had the right amount of HTFU in his life, that's for sure.

The Giro might. The Vuelta's always been a bit.. meh.
Except maybe when they're throwing triples on for some of the stupid climbs. -

I remember there were riders walking last year on a very steep (but short) climb. Dave Harmon was having a chuckle.

"I'm not fahking too tall. Why don't you get me a proper fahking bike?!"

I can't recall ever seeing one of those bikes being ridden before. I guess it does make sense that they would have smaller rather larger sizes, as you say.
Still, quite a story!

Filippo Simeoni in the 2001 Vuelta.
That's good, but it's not over his shoulder, and it's not the Tour.

Was there a two up sprint, then a crash, rider first across line was relegated therefore second across line (with bike on shoulder) was awarded win? Or summink similar? Or was the rider so far ahead that when he had a mechanical he still had oodles of time to walk to the line?
Jens descends on a borrowed kids bike (toeclips yo!)to chase the team car after smashing his bike and his ribs yesterday.
