I've done that 10.5 to 10.8 twice recently. You have to update to 10.6 using the DVD first, then 10.6.8 so you get the app store. Now you can go directly to 10.8.x I didn't loose any data that way.
The person at apple said I had to update without any jumps in operating systems or I'd loose all my stuff. You think it'd be ok to go from 10.5.8 to 10.8? I'd probably have to maim someone if I lost all my stuff.

Cool, so this looks like a team effort, I'll grab the bits off you guys soon then hopefully, cheers.

The way Paul says is the official way. If you do it the way I do (with a USB image), you don't need the app store.
But I've also not tested it on 10.5.8 -> 10.8
Regarding the RAM, I need the model. You'll find it in About My Mac. It should be something like:
MacBook5,1

I'd like to chat with you regarding this john. In terms of software etc. Probs time for an upgrade for me too. Hate upgrades.

So is the model number either MB466/A orMB467/A.
In that case it will need PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM
That's pretty old stuff, I doubt I have any, but I'll have a look, or at least find where you can get it cheap online.
The max officially supported is 4GB (2x2GB), but you can go up to 8GB (2x4GB).
And example would be here: http://www.crucial.com/uk/store/partspecs.aspx?imodule=ct2kit51264bc1067
Or from Amazon: http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B001PS9UKW/?tag=hydra0b-21&hvadid=9550947669&ref=asc_df_B001PS9UKW
This does depend on it being one of those models though.

Cheers Ste, I think that's the sizes I need too, just added the measurements for medium to the post too for anyone who can't be bothered going to the G-Form site.

Anyone got a disc brake 26 front wheel?
Not for polo, so any old crap will do

Didn't things use to be the other way round?
