So, I was out in the garage tinkering with my Thorn, and I dropped my iPhone from about 6 inches off the floor. It's smashed.
I have no insurance, and I've just been told that Apple do on-the-spot repairs for £180. Has anyone tried this, is it true?
So angry. I was going to spend that money on the bike. Now I have to waste it on a bloody phone.
you NEED bicycles-you happen to own iPhones...no contest

OK, I spent the day researching, and I have a few options;
- Ignore it, pretend it never happened, and spend the next 10 months with sliced fingertips.
- Sticky-backed plastic, spend the next 10 months with a cyberpunky mess of hi-tech.
- Take it to Apple for repair, lose £180.
- Take it to diable's mate, lose £40, cross fingers.
Waddya reckon?

until this post it didn't click that you have to touch this horrendously cracked screen. much more funny/irritating.

i would vote number 3, and can't you just get a different cheaper phone anyway?
-
• #40
I could get a cheaper phone, but I actually love having it; the searchable contacts app is great for my job, the MP3 player is super, the email on the go is vital, the camera is nice, web access is good, works flawlessly with my laptop, yadda, yadda, yadda....
Would be good to get it fixed.

well i would recommend official route (not to call diable's mate shit) but it may but more than just the screen.

go here: http://www.mobilephonerepairs.co.uk/home.asp
There's a shop in wimbledon, they fixed my screen for £70. not had any probs with it in 6 months or so. you can take it down (same day fix, took about 45 mins) or send it to them (5 days fix).

Nokia know how to test a phone..
MobileCrunch Nokia Testing Labs Tour: Spanky on Vimeo
and
They obviously didn't test the Nokia 5800 batch, I've only had mine since April and it adores randomly switching off and on itself, or gives me a fuzzed screen of purple and green lines. Oh and it refuses to show me the numbers I've saved, so I get confused if I get a text from a number I don't know.
Yeah. I'm not buying a Nokia again.

Yeah. I'm not buying a Nokia again.
Nokia's are ok apart from the N series have used them for 15 years at least.
Who is your contract with?
-
• #45
Nokia are shit. 6210 was their last winner.
Be like that French guy and eat your phone. Then use the fame and riches from filming this stunt to fund the purchase of a decent handset.
