andyp, thanks for that. Camilla is yet to awaken but when she does she had better have that Childline number handy.
Also, my face looks more gruesome than most of those masks.
Nhatt. Thanks. If Camilla survives my wrath, she might be interested ;o)
Given how much fun she clearly had spectating, surely it isn't at all unlikely that Camilla will 'enthusiastically' enter a Herne Hill cyclo-cross event sometime very soon?

That was awesome fun - course was wicked and the heckling was very accurate (my remount technique is indeed rubbish). Think I'm being a bit stupid, but where are the results posted? Would like to see where I came
You're not being stupid, you just need to know where to look. They are over on Londoncyclesport;

andyp came 9th in the vets which is a brilliant result.
Thanks. Actually I was 8th, as the guy who came 2nd in the race was a junior. So he won the junior race whilst I edge up to 8th. Woohoo! ;-)

Cheers. Checked it, but a little disappointed cos I think they got my result wrong. They've got me at 43rd on 4 laps, but I did 6 or 7 and know I came in ahead of Jon, Nhatt and Rob who are all in the 30s. I want my desperate sprint for the finish line to count so that I can glory in a place in the high 20s! No big deal though - was good fun and good to see people from here doing well!

Have a word with James (JJS on here) or JC as they were doing the lap counting for your race I think.
-

Yeah, I was wondering about the results, it looks like I did better that I thought...I would love it to be accurate, but I kinda think it might not be.
Oh well. I was very happy to be able to finish the race in one piece, as was the surly-mobile.

Ah, they have re-done the results. I have come behind two lady pumpkins, as I thought, but still very very chuffed to be the third lady, and as I was literally right behind them I'm uber chuffed. This was only my third time riding a bike on an unpaved surface, so I'm quite amazed to have finished at all!

I did way better than I thought, I didn't come last!
I asked a seasoned crosser before hand for tips and he said to try really hard for a good start to avoid the bottle necks. I managed to get close to the front and got a good start then overtook a few people to make it into the singletrack 3rd. Then it went downhill

I think everyone who raced did incredibly well! it looked a very gruelling course.
I especially applaud the first timers, Nhatt, Clive et al

• #266
al.....? did he race?

• #267
Not a first timer, I'm afraid.

Pah, don't think much of the results :)
I'm down as DNF 4 laps,
I finished after my 6th.
I knew things had gone wrong when they were calling "mummy" rather than 277.Oh well.
Totally excellent event and possibly the most fun I've ever had on a bike.Totally hooked on 'cross now. can't wait for a 2nd go.

Absolutely. I wouldn't have dared enter. Also people riding in complicated and fussy costumes, people who had to make do without lights (a surprisingly large number), people who crashed and didn't give up, etc.

Although I'm disapointed that you didn't think my pun based on your name was funny, you are forgiven because you managed not to post a photo of me that makes me look fat.
Good work Schick.

Ha, sorry, Nhatt, the problem was that I couldn't hear it at first. I don't hear very well in a hubbub of voices. I only really like bad puns, too. Keep it up and you might soon become a Nhattural at this. :)

You're most welcome, but the credit of course goes to the photographer.

I think you could earn a few Nichols if you really went for it.
(But why are we pun-derailing this thread? What has it done to deserve it? ;) )
