  • anybody know the width of those deadly discs? specifically the 20mm.or the broby c20?

Regular 19mm, off the top of my head

  • Dart is in the sale for 240 notes http://www.kinokocycles.com/sale/the-dart-2012.html

  • ^ very tempting

  • wrong thread I think velocio

  • A23s for £20 a pop... seriously considering buying a pair just to have in stock.

  • I know, i just bought black archetypes at twice that, in 32h as well

    bargain

gonna put my name down for one... just need to work out size... life of being a shortie, always fall between 2 sizes.

  • They're rims..

  • sorry, wrong link quoted. I meant the dart frame... Friday night embarrassing moment...

  • Does anyone know how much would it cost to have a bike built if the frame and some parts are bought from Kinoko? I have around £40 in my head but it could just be my imagination.

  • £15 to replace a BB? My LBS did it for a pack of bourbons and a used copy of razzle

  • Oh my god, charging people for your services... Fuck me, that would be like actually paying people a wage for working.

    #inyourdreamsbro

  • "Please allow our friendly staff to accompany you and your machine down the stairs..." They just told me go down stairs myself last time I went... boo... lol... I am gonna demand to be accompanied next time. :-P

£40 to build a bike seems reasonable. Sorry guys, I just don't really get a sense of satisfaction from building my own bikes... Plus it probably won't be safe to ride...

  • Totally agree. In my opinion £40 or £80 respectively to build a bike is very reasonable. Bike mechanics and store owners are people too also need to eat, feed their children and pay their mortgages... Deal with it, go somewhere else, or do the fucking work yourself!

While a lot of people in the bike industry are in it for the love of the business, much like in any other industry really, they still need to make a living. Sorry for ranting in the wrong thread, but it's not like you would expect your groceries for free just because you're a regular at Tesco's.

  • £40 for a bike build is very cheap, usually charge a full service, between £80-120 for that.

  • I am not defending 44/17 and I agree totally that mechanics are just like the rest of us. But LBS does do the occasional things for free because they know you so maybe that's what he means. The same as Kinoko, I am by no mean a regular, been there a few times, know the guys, they know my face, this is it, but even then, they have given me the occasional bits for free and have done the occasional tweaking for free. The good thing about independent bike shops!

  • ^This!

Building rapport; it's a two way street.

  • Still they wouldn't accompany me down the stairs!! Must insist when I go in for that frame tomorrow! :-P

  • Just hold out your hand like a toddler would when crossing the road when at the top of the stairs. Wait until someone holds it and goes down with you or just stare at someone and say " I was told I would be accompanied. I have bathmophobia so you're being really insensitive right now. I never had this problem in [name a bike shop with no stairs]."

  • ^^ Nice one ExTra, was considering one for myself but none left in my size. Have been holding out for the new dart frame but that price is seriously tempting.

  • boredom - I shall try and report back. To be fair, Jessie did go down with me once, but that was my 1st time visiting the new shop, 2nd time onwards, not the same story...

Dish - sometimes being a shortie has my advantage... I am thinking a 49, as it's effectively a 52 ish top tube. Funny how frames are sized... not just with the dart, but frames in general.
