London Hardcourt represent!
What an awesome afternoon of polo! When I got there the guys were just waiting to play a game (the game that got them into the quarter finals). The opposing team were a bunch of guys on BMXes, nothing to write home about really. The Hardcourt boys pwned them big style. Good fluid passing and teamwork that pretty much rang rings around the opponents. Most of the play was in the oppositions half, I'm not even sure on the final score - I put it at about 10-1. There was talk of 14-1 but I'm not convinced. Not sure the WAGs of the opponents were very impressed, haha!
In the quarters it was against the team from Oakenden. Some people may remember them from the first BFF polo tourney up at Brick Lane? A lot closer this time, both teams played really well although I felt the fluidity from the previous game lacked in Hardcourt's gameplay. Getting called up on 'crossing the line' was more evident but some good battling resulted in a win, again not sure on final score but I think it was around 5-4 to our boys.
Onto the final, against a very good Irish team. They pretty much out-played the boys with their very precise passing and shooting. The speed of their guy on the charge was amazing! The HC boys though couldn't seem to find each other in space to take advantage of the much bigger pitch. They seemed to be huddling quite a lot. Vidal subbed in for Turd during the 2nd half and had some really good chances that just kept going inches to the wrong side of the posts! Favourite hackle of the match "Pass it to James Brown!"
The end result is inconsequential, it was a great game that the guys were unlucky to lose. The guys all seemed to have loads of fun, and I think relished the opportunity in playing a different type of bike polo. Funny to see the boys skidding away on the grass, there's skid marks all over the pitch now, haha!Have loads of pics but I seem to have misplaced my camera lead, may not be until Monday when I get to work til I sort them.

Fucking awesome day! Definitely going to get down to play grass with those boys again in a couple of weeks.
1st game 4-1
2nd, We think it was 14 - 1 but maybe we're being too kind but fuck it it was a stupid lead. The BMX boys put up a good fight but they had no control. at one point they tried a brake the guy was going too fast and couldn't stop, went straight over the back line up a bushy verge straight into a tree, came out so Pique could come one for the second half, heckling my own team from the sideline felt right, my favourite of the day "go back to Hackney'.
3rd game was 4-3 or 5-4 close the whole way 1-0, 1-1, 1-2 etc. One of my favorite bit of play was when we were 1-2 down with 20second to go of the first chucker and got the 2nd goal withing seconds of the wistle. couch good shot aidan cough
4th game we put up a good fight but the irish boys were just TOO good, they made full use of the pitch, fast play, long balls and they played our weakness just sligtly too well. Lovely goal to equalise though. If I may say so. If we were going to loose to anyone it was going to be them and i'm gald it was them.
All in all a great day of polo, beautiful weather, good convoyed ride out, friendly refs and really friendly organisers. It's a shame more people didn't come down but next time boys and girls get off your arse! Big thanks to everyone who came down to support, it was awesome that Brendan got in on a game too, would be interesting to see the footage some time. Slamn pull your socks up and sort out the pictures!!! Appsolute pleasure playing with Hassan, Matt, Matt and Pique great players and even when we wern't playing too well we had a smile on our faces. Any time you guys need a team for a grass tournement you let me know.

great day out I must say beautiful spot and lovely sunny day
an all together more civilised form of the game to the hard cort polo rules took a bit of getting used to but i think they work quite well
loads of room and 4 players makes for a more open game plus the three touch rule made for some interesting scenesall together great performance by the hardcourt all stars
they strode majestically to the final where they came across the better team with a full set of nice allin grass polo bikes ( it hink thats why they won ! ) well played to the irish
anyone fancy weds nights down there ?? they play regularly on a weds evcening just by fulham footie ground

champagne cocktails to start and finish each chukka ?
do they allow tatoos on the court / into the grounds ?but the grass court game looked good a lot like horse polo with big wellies up the pitch and people chasing around at top speed ! only a few spills and nice soft stuff to fall on !

everytime we scored we retreated back to our goal like hardcourt. Only really sank in that we only had to give them half the court on the final game. ha.

The sharp end of a Golden Wheel / Hassan sandwich!
Ha ha...great pics Slamm...that cocky Aussie dude had nothing more up his sleeve than to try H boning us...him being the horizontal line between Hass and I. He took it the hardest though, so the move was on him! The only annoying thing was he did stop us from scoring yet another goal to add to our infinite polo - 1 result!
Overall, what a great day. Super fun to hang out with the Hardcourt All Stars and play Grass Polo rules. Playing with and against the Irish was awesome too. Top guys, who gave us a real lesson in the final.
Def want to play more grass polo soon.
Aidan...well done for dragging us all down there.
