  • ^ he he!

  • Bomber jacket purchased. Ace.

  • Tempted by the bomber to just wear around town. Anyone know if they are resonably warm?

  • Yep warm enough as a jacket. Pretty racing snake in fit though, so if you wanna layer up, get the next size. Too warm for 'proper' riding though, although great roubd town

  • Called, spoke to the very nice Christophe, who refunded the difference in price to my card at once.

    Very impressed.

  • Now that really is great fucking service..

Don't suppose you know how it compares to the Classic Softshell? I'm usually an XL in Rapha but I'm L in some stuff like the more relaxed jerseys and the aforementioned Classic Softshell. I saw the Bomber Jacket IRL for the first time yesterday and it's much nicer than it looks on the website.

  • The bomber jacket is an excellent piece of kit, albeit a bit too warm for winter as I find I can only wear it on the bike when it's really cold, but I tend to wear it more off the bike.

As for sizing, I wear a large in the softshell and the fixed jacket and, as Eightball points out, the cut is quite slim. I don't think you'd ever layer up with it though, as anything more than a baselayer and you'd be sweating buckets.

  • If it's basically the same sizing then that's cool. Definitely wouldn't wear more than a base layer or t-shirt underneath. Cheers.

  • Bomber for £80.75 (wit code) is a steal.

  • It's a massive pisstake to ring up and ask for the difference back. You bought at a price agreeable to you, what's changed? So what the price has dropped, tough luck!

  • Added a rouleur mag at £8.50 to qualify for free postage.

    Sweet.

Though they are doing it, therefore setting a precedent for other people to ask for a refund. All it does is enamor people even more to the brand for just a few quid their end.

The brand loyalty Rapha manage to create is very impressive.

  • Rapha bomber jacket and merino socks for 93.50, delivered.

At this rate the entire forum will be wearing bomber jackets by the end of the week.

However, the fact that I cannot eat for the rest of the month means I will have to send the Large back for a Medium.

I'm with you here Dov. Bedwetters

  • Touring shorts for £34 with code. Don't mind if I do!

Heh, you'd be on the phone in a heartbeat in the same situation.

  • The merino hat for £20 is a great deal - I've barely taken mine off all winter.

    What winter ?

That's so untrue, what they've done is extend some goodwill to a customer who has then posted an account of it on an open forum where anyone with the ability to Google can find it, therefore setting a precedent. You've exploited the Company's good nature. They know full well you could return said items for free, get a refund and then re-buy at the cheaper price so it's less work for them to give you back the difference, it's not because they want to.

Would you have the cheek to walk back in to your LBS a week after purchasing something and say "I bought this last week and am perfectly happy with it but notice this week you're selling it for a bit less, can I have the difference back?" Would you fuck, it'd be far too embarrassing. Rapha is a privately owned business much like your LBS and should be dealt with in the same way.

Heh, you'd be on the phone in a heartbeat in the same situation.

No I would not. I wouldn't have the gall.

  • I've been caught out by the flamboyant pricing structure and I'm not going to complain to get my money back.

I have no problem with other people doing it but it's not for me.

  • They know full well you could return said items for free, get a refund and then re-buy at the cheaper price so it's less work for them to give you back the difference, it's not because they want to.

So everyone wins, right? The customers get the stuff they wanted for a price that was even lower than they were willing to pay. And Rapha has less administration work to do, and a small army of people who go onto the interwebs to proclaim how great their customer service is.

  • Softshell gilet. Anyone got one? Like it? Use it much?

I have a gore windstopper one that I've had for a couple of years, and it is a versatile piece of kit. I like the idea of something a bit warmer though.

  • What winter ?

The German winter. Where they have snow and everything. :)

And those couple of cold days we had here. Which were definitely cold enough to need covered ears. No?

^This. I have the same situation at work. Get 40% off and guarantee you get the correct size. Wait for the prices to plummet and risk not getting the size you want and then pay more than the discount amount for the alteration it requires. People need to GAFG. The company reserves the right to change and adjust the prices as and when it wants to.

Yes, yes and not as much as I'd like. It's well thought out and perfect for those cold winter days that we've not really had so far this winter.
