  • Prices have just dropped further in Rapha Winter sale.

    Wankers!

I bought the cross bib shorts for £120 last week, they are now £90.

I've not worn them and they still have tags- tempted to return them.

  • That's a serious piss take.

Something similar happened to me last year. I sent them an email and asked if they would honour the new price, as I was still within the return period.

A nice chap gave me a credit note for the difference, which seemed fair enough to me.

Sometimes, if you ask nicely, it all works out OK.

Apparantly this happens a lot and they completely expect this - this is why there will be a sample sale in a week or two..
Either return and buy again at a cheaper price OR just phone them and they will likely refund you the difference as they have great customer service

I bought a wind jacket last year and was rather smug for the first few showers I got caught in as it held them off; in my mind, it was just a wind jacket so this feature was a bonus! It then was no longer shower proof but it still fulfils my primary requirement of it.

I thought that AndyP said his was no longer waterproof when I saw him at Muddy Hell, but don't quote me on that.

I think Regal has hit the nail on the head there. Mine goes in with all the normal laundry so gest fabric conditioned which, I think, most water resistant/ proof things aren't supposed to be exposed to.

    two things:

    a) hope you don't put the rest of your cycling gear in with fabric condittioner. Won't last very long if you do

    b) Somewhere on this forum (possibly the jacket thread) there's a link to an article that proves that washing waterproof fabrics with fabric conditioner actually renews the proofing. It goes against everything I've been told previously but it was a convincing article.

  • I just got an email saying I can save 15% on my next order.

    NCTDU2012

not sure if it applies just to me though.

Might buy the etape jersey. I actually quite like it.

  • Country jersey looks reasonably priced . But which country to choose?

  • I got the same email. The code isnt just you.

  • Top marks Rapha - You make other retailers look like a proper bunch of cunts.

    ^ This ^

When people use the "Rapha is so overpriced. You can get the same from for half the price" I don't think they are realise how good Rapha's customer service is. They even repair your prized clothing after you've crashed in it while riding home from the pub after a few too many.

Fabric conditioner will ruin anything designed wick sweat away and once it's on, it's never coming off and your base layer / jesrsey / merino pants or whatever are ruined.

I have read the research into using fabric softener as a reproofer (Comfort Pure was used) and it does indeed work. However, it is pretty vague on how it affects breathability and longevity of the garment.

  • The merino hat for £20 is a great deal - I've barely taken mine off all winter.

  • You sleep in it?

  • Pretty much. I wore it off the bike when visiting the in-laws in chilly Germany, anyway.

Worn under a helmet in sub-5° temperatures it's awesome. I have another helmet liner thing but it totally screws up what I can hear - loads of wind noise. No such problem with this, plus it wicks sweat loads better.

This was my thinking too.. fine if you're going sailing.. not so much if you're cycling

Likewise, same boat. Only I bought the jersey, still got tags on just checked the further reduction none too happy, I will be sending it back.

  • Bomber Jacket is really good at the sale price - Fixed jacket (prev version) is just about the best all round jacket I own - 18 months old and still as good as new - I'm almost tempted to get another!

  • if it's as good as new why buy another?

    Just saying..

  • 'cos its grey...I dunno...to stock up in case there is a Rapha...er....shortage?

  • Bomber jacket for £80 - do I eat for the rest of the month, or buy a jacket?

  • eat. Unless you can get jacket and wear it on stealth based Freegan rides?
