  • It's £240 so I'm gonna go ahead and say 'fuck that' right now. What makes it better than the SJoD or the Swrve Milwaulkee?

First and foremost, if you have one you are not Hippy.

That alone makes it worth the asking price.

  • And it doesn't stink like a dead polecat.....

Not that I've met you, just going on what people say, like.....

  • Yeah but I killed the SJoD and my new jacket doesn't stink.. yet.

I wanted to know what features make it the best? And if you say "the pink stripe" or "the b&w mountain photos" I'll kill you in the face*.

    *not really

  • Still stand by my Swrve Milwaulkee, although I must've washed it wrong as the softshell is seperating from the inside...

  • mind you my rapha windbreaker is a lots better than my swrve one (a lots more comfortable to boot).

  • I love my Softshell too. Today would have been a good day to try out my new rain jacket but we had a total fail on the clothing front and went home instead.

It has the arse flap, undersleave vents, key pocket at the front and useful rear pockets and the material is really good for the job.

Re pretty pictures of people up mountains in black and white in the marketing shite - I would boil to death doing any serious hills wearing mine.

  • True fact^^^

    Hot as a nuns chuff.
Seriously, it stops wind, easy to regulate, arse flap posing, water resistant(ish) but wicks like a motherfucker..... It's just the first thing I think of wearing and base the rest around it.... And my winter socks with the pink trim of course....

  • It's £240 so I'm gonna go ahead and say 'fuck that' right now. What makes it better than the SJoD or the Swrve Milwaulkee?

    What's SJoD?

  • Stench Jacket of Doom. Hippy's (now dead) cheap, never washed for 5 years, plastic rainproof. I sat downwind from it once.

    Once.

  • He wore it at one of his last appearances at Wests. It singed the hairs in my nostrils.

  • Ahh. Thanks. I'm proud to say I own a softshell and am more than happy with it. /csb

  • Rapha, Y U No January (not sample or Winter) Sale?
but there's loads in the sale right now!

  • Am I doing it right?

    Yes. No.

  • Still stand by my Swrve Milwaulkee, although I must've washed it wrong as the softshell is seperating from the inside...

So you're standing by a product that can't be washed?

I've never tried one, but I struggle to see how a jacket designed for winter in Milwaukee is appropriate for anyone riding through London.

    Weather for London, UK
    6°C | °F

    Partly Cloudy
    Wind: W at 13 mph
    Humidity: 76%

    Weather for Milwaukee, WI, USA
    -5°C | °F

    Light Snow
    Wind: NW at 25 mph
    Humidity: 65%

    But then I run hot.

  • But then I run hot.

    Saucy.

  • I have just got the Raha oversocks - it notes on the website that the "The sole has also been scored enabling you to cut a cleat hole quickly and easily". There is no obvious 'scoring' marks on the sole, other than a line of knitting that is in contrasting white thread down the centre of the sole.

    Where do I cut??

  • Where the cleat would be. :)

  • Genius

  • #gives Skippy a quick slap :p

I don't want to unravel all the stitching and it suggests that there is a particular place to cut, but I can't seen any marks.

  • Along the white stitching line

They are made for road not Mtb shoes

  • We did wonder that. Given the tread of MTB shoes. Will think it through before cutting.

    Where do I cut??

i don't know a lot but I do know about this, no need to cut at all just put them on and clip into your pedals as normal, it will create its own hole, have done this on numerous pairs and with both standard SPD's and the SPD-SL's.

  • would not work for speedplays

  • Really, thats good to know, have not used SP's but may do.
