But very expensive compared to £20 each for icebreaker longsleeves on sale at Field and Trek online
I'm curious about this RedRam brand. Google suggests they use Icebreaker's merino but not the brand - hence the price. F&T don't give the fabric weight so hard to compare with real Icebreaker.Anyone here got one of each to compare?I'll find out in 3-5 working days. -

just remembered, blacks own brand technicals makes good merino tops
bought one last year, still looks like new
(prefer icebreaker cut though) -

Don't suppose anyone's interested in sharing a 3 pack of base layers? I just want 1 long sleeve and splitting a three pack would make each £37 instead of £60...

Have a look at the on one sale too.... I've just got the half zip 190gms for £20 and the short sleeved 120gms for £15.... 4 new base layers for £70, bargain and really good quality

Got the RedRam stuff yesterday. The fabric is very light - compared to the 200 gms icebreaker stuff I'd say redram is in the 120-150 range. Basically half the fabric (and probably longevity) for half the price which I guess is fair. The 200 is much nicer, even after two ski seasons.
On the other hand the redram is cut noticably longer in the torso. Would make a good light base layer for cycling if you're gentle with it.

I got a pair of the leather town gloves, but bought the large as i was told they stretch quite a bit, been wearing them for about 4 days but they still feel too small. Has anybody had experience with them? How long do they take to stretch out?

Any opticians/eye specialists/bioligists want to help with this one?
From the Wapha site:
*Scientific research shows the Chartreuse [sic] colourway[sic] offers exceptional visibility in low light. Though not technically fluorescent, studies have found that the rods in the retina – the part of the eye that work best in low light – are particularly receptive to the yellow/green colour*My understanding is that the *Cones *are used to detect colour and even in low light this is the case; I do note the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Purkinje_effect but even that seems to highlight the prominence of blue in low light?
I don't know why, but the above segment just reminds me of this:

Nice but not science-y?

I had this with pro team mitts - I expected them to stretch a bit. They didn't and as they were worn, Rapha wouldn't take them back.

Crap. They are so nice in every other way. Really hoping they'll give a bit. Will be right fucked off if they don't.

I'm starting to feel a little vulnerable in the mornings in all black - I took a look at the Rapha gilet this morning, and it doesn't look like it's actually going to be much more help (being black and without much luminesing (sp?) stuff on it.
Given that it is, well, a little pricey, has anyone got any opinions on it or something similar that might be of interest. Appreciate I could just grab something from chainreaction but thought I might ask for any recommendations.

If I'm in all black when it's dark I tend to wear a fluoro sash thing, and fuck the haters. At least it doesn't mess up the breathability / layering of whatever you're wearing.

I often have a bag with me so any reflective stuff on my back is irrelevant.....more lights probably better IMO.
The gilet is good, I use It loads. Having said that I only paid £40 for it in a sample sale, would probably look at castelli etc if looking at full price.

Indeed, a good light make all the difference, day-glo is a hit or miss.
The main problem is that the more people wear day-glo, the more motorists take less care around them, especially as an excuse "oh I didn't see him, he wasn't wearing hi-vis/helmet/glove/underwear".

Ed, it's as if you glean tiny snippets of wisdom like an ADHD child surfing the internet and then filter it through your brain to come out with utter fucking gibberish.
It's extraordinary
