Now I look like an estate agent on his first day at work.
haha! how wonderfully evocative

You need to understand the past tense.
Just saying.
Enlighten me!

"As someone who's worked..."
Past tense.
"As someone who's working..."
Present tense.

Strange, mine's definitely the gibbon's cut.
Wonderful shirt, but bit long. I expected it to be snug fit and went for XL. Now I look like an estate agent on his first day at work.
Dave (chap I got the shirt for) is the same height as me- he fits the small, I fit the medium, sleeves are fine for both of us.

• #6181
You're like tall and stuff. Medium?
-
• #6182
Yep.
-
• #6183
I didn't think about the length and collar width, more about the space to accommodate my athletic [strike]chest[/strike] one-pack, so I went for the XL one. Silly.

Ahhhhhh. Gotcha.

A redeeming feature of one particular boss (of a mail order company that I picked and packed for (past tense)) was that he'd readily admit he was a fucking cunt to his employees when he was stressed out.
His ex-wife agreed. And his son, who did a little seasonal work.
I liked the bloke.
He was a cunt.
Often think about him; fondly.

I didn't have internet forums with which to berate him for being a stressed out cunt back then. I had to make do with telling him to his face :/

Had same problem recently with a Rapha exchange after hearing nothing for a week and a half. Best bet is to phone them directly. Pete sorted my problem out immediately.
Good service still at Rapha, second only to customer service at Torm.cc who reply to emails quickly and sort out problems within 24 hours. -

No, that's in the [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Present_perfect"]present perfect/ame. The [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Past_tense"]past tense[/ame] would be:
'As someone who worked ...'

Someone has [strike]been[/strike] [strike]had[/strike] [strike]paying[/strike] paid attention at school. Whatever.
-
• #6190
No, that's in the present perfect (the apostrophe plus 's' is of course the elided auxiliary verb form 'has'). The past tense would be:
'As someone who worked ...'
the present perfect is still a past tense though

Surely not? Present tense plus perfect aspect, isn't it? I like the fact English is skewed towards the present… the here and now; all things relating to the current moment. We don't even have a future tense, FFS.

• #6192
Wow! The Rapha thread has just become interesting and useful.
Mind embrocation. -

EEI, if you don't mind me asking, what chest size are you usually? I was thinking that these looked like a nice number, but am wavering on sizing.
Also, gibbon cut = long in body or arms or both?

What BMMF says. It's explained more fully in the links I gave; the present perfect is for past actions with consequences for the present. The actions are in the past, but the aspect under which they are considered (when you use this tense) is not.
I like the fact English is skewed towards the present… the here and now; all things relating to the current moment. We don't even have a future tense, FFS.

Long sleeves. Actually all long - a proper XL (not only for someone fatter, but also actually bigger and taller).
As for the chest size it depends. I think I'm somewhere around 42-43". It's my belly's size which changes depending on how much I cycle and how long I give up smoking for at the time. -

Same here.
The shirt is absolutely fantastic. I wore it the other day - it was cold enough to make some people wear base layer and a wind/rain jacket. I had on me that meaty and well wicking Velobici t-shirt and a Rapha & PS wind shirt.
It does the wind.
it does stop the rain too!
I arrived home dry and without any hypothermia in the middle of a windy and rainy night. OK, I had few pints, but still didn't feel cold at all. The hidden zip is a great feature. -

Rocking my Paul Smith/Rapah jersey today for the first time - surprisingly generous sizing. Large is really quite loose on me - whereas a large lightweight is pretty 'aero'
