The little pink elastic waist band thingy on my Paul Smith merino jersey snapped yesterday. I'm gutted.
Fuck. It should last longer than that. Did it snap or pull out of the anchor stitching. (I imagine that's what it's called.)

Not impressed with my Rapha trousers. Bobbled on the arse after a week of commuting. Exactly the wear I was not expecting from a cycling specific trouser from Rapha.
The stowaway has been great however, and the country jerseys are the best jerseyes I have worn. Perfect fit, feel amazing. Merino convert.

But isn't that a bit,
"Look my shit dont stink. I'm gonna wear all these layers just to prove it"what would be the problem wearing this minus base layer?

V-neck baselayer (made from finer merino than the others) or nothing - I'm sure it's fine on its own.

Give it a rest. It's too hot for it anyway.

nothing.. but the whole point of a b/l is to move water away from the skin so when the wind hits your outer/mid layer the sweat doesn't freeze your shit up.
I've got some of the Rapha sleeveless b/l's - they're great now things are warming up

My dad wears a string vest under his.

I'd vote for nothing, unless it's really cold. Merino's fine against the skin, as anyone who own an Icebreaker top will tell you.

The chaps in the returns dept have always been really good in my experience. They've even done bits I bought for peanuts in sample sales etc. Heard there's been a few problems with the new PS stuff though...

What's regular (not the lighter "summer" type) sportswool like in summer temps say ~20C? Too hot?
-
• #5194
i wore my rapha jerseys all through summer without a problem, only if it's a real scorcher would i bother wearing a thinner synthetic jersey
-
• #5195
I agree with Mr Smyth - it's fine for all but the highest temperatures (above 30C).
