where, in all this negativity, is the recognition that some demographic slices of the male population (yes, and women cyclists too though they arent yet labeled as the guys are afaik) are adopting healthier and more active lifestyles.

I have to say that for all the MAMIL based ridicule they have tried to whip up over the last few months, i think it always falls short and hasn't quite caught fire with the public for exactly the reasons you mention - because cycling is a sport, after all, and is pretty hard work, and people know this. So while a lot of people would like to have a bit of a sneer, largely they don't because they feel guilty that they just sit on their fat arses every night knowing they 'should' be at the gym, and they don't want to be called on it.

Rapha's still for pounces though.

I liked their previous merino jersey and got the updated version.
For the rest (shorts, jerseys) I will go to Tron.

apparently the merino jumpers get weird and baggy if you actually use the pockets though. I was warned off by Rapha employees

talking to two women, usual bar small talk, mild flirting etc. mate appears to be having some success with one of the women.
she asks him what he does, he replies and asks her the same question.
