I got a pair of all black classic lightweight bibs in the sale and they are fine for now.
So it looks like a fluke or a small production run that has been fucked. -
• #28128
arent the bibs made in italy?
-
• #28129
I hope so. I really liked them
-
• #28130
Same with the Randonnée and touring shorts. Seems they only show up if you search for them specifically.
-
• #28131
the pads are made in italy IIRC - should say on a label.

I assume this is still relevant?

that your being conned by super high prices with super low paid Chinese labour and Quality?
I normally stay out of this sort of thing - everyone is entitled to their own opinion on products and brands - but pretty much everything about your sentence is incorrect.

I wouldn't bother, most people here are twats or noobs. The trolling potential is great thats how I justify my ROI.

Yes, absolutely (although Paolo has now left), but there are other countries of manufacture for contour legwear, including Portugal and China.

And correct too, all pads for bibs/tights are.

I'm happy to be proved wrong, so please PROVE my statement to be incorrect - in my humble opinion it would be naive to think Rapha use Chinese labour / manufacturing solely because they have to deal with high volumes / require a high skilled workforce , if it was that simple then how can other clothing retailers use solely UK manufacturers priced below Rapha Products , indeed i would see that as an insult to the talented UK workforce we do have and investing in said workforce...
- i note Rapha have some blurb on their website about KTC China and how ethically and socially responsible employer they are - i also note it doesnt say if ALL Rapha "made in china" products are made at that manufacturing site, and also note that the average wage based on the 2015 KTC own report is around £8 an hour before tax, and includes an additional "financial value" for feeding and housing said workforce, - although not detailed, it would therefore not be clear what the workforces take home pay would actually be.

Do we finally have a baby boomer in the rapha thread?
-
• #28143
I'll bite.
Which retailers use uk manufactures and are lower price?
How do you know that £8 per hour in China is low wage?
Do you understand brand value?
Do you understand fashion industry?
-
• #28144
Do you even fashion?
-
• #28145
Do you understand brand value?
Amey, pls. You mean premium pricing.
TBF I think Rapha stuff is pretty good value despite their pricing model, or rather they at least peg good durability to the price. This only applies when you buy the stuff that actually works. The trick to avoid the stuff that doesn't.

• #28146
I'd take the word of someone who works at Rapha ahead of some misinformed gobshite on the internet.

Lusso are cheaper than rapha and are made in UK. Also, whilst maybe not as stylish, Lusso kit is awesome. Well made, hard-wearing and functions exactly as it ought.
I wore a pair of their Aero50 bib shorts for Dunwich dynamo and my arse survived. They were £35.

this isnt about "biting" you stated my statement was utterly wrong, so all i asked you to do tell me why?
£8 hour is low for "western world" economies, and given we cannot determine what actual wage they are getting, and the fact that the minimum wage is £6 on average in china as of 2016 - its not a great difference.I dont give a crap about fashion industry or brand value, why should i?
I am a purchaser, and i have been, and may be in the future, a potential purchaser of Rapha goods - it is up to me to consider how and where they are made, the quality of the product based on not ONLY its cost but on the statements made by Rapha themselves, and, how i and others have experienced that product and been dealt with by Rapha -
therefore i am entitled to express my opinion if i think that the cost 'v' purchase price is unwarranted and cause for question. -
• #28149
the fact that the minimum wage is £6 on average in china as of 2016
Got a source on that? I thought it was £1 or something #thanksbrexit
-
• #28150
apologies apologies - i meant average wage was £6 ( http://www.tradingeconomics.com/china/wages ) as of 2016
and yes its is converting to GBP which isnt great at the moment (indeed brexits!)
