  • I wish that wind jacket at condor would go out of stock already.

    Do not need another jacket.

    Want...

  • Took delivery of the Aerosuit. Fitment feels odd when In the cycling position. I think I don't have a long enough torso to fill it out???

When standing straight up everything fits pretty well. But once bent over, the bottom of the "jersey" bunches up like crazy. Any aero benefit would be lost

Not sure if I should downsize to
and try to squeeze into a small... I wear Medium usually in PT stuff.

  • Size down - you shouldn't be able walk around unrestricted.

  • I tried the aero onesie on, to get the top as tight as the chap in the shop wanted it to be I'd never find the old chap again. Also need the back length of the M.

  • Softshell baselayer.
    What was the verdict?

    It's nice, but...

Actually probably feels like you're wearing a bin liner.

  • I swear every time I go in there they tell me I need a size smaller than I'm actually looking at. It's almost like it's policy. To the extent that most recently I was told I probably needed a small softshell base layer (I am 6'4" and the best part of 90kg).

  • Great for fast flattering through cold air, or windy days.

    I like mine a lot.

Means I can get away with thermal shorts and a SS jersey on a chilly day.

Not good for climbing though. Definitely prefer wool for that.

  • Racing? Cross?

  • Not quite sure where you get this idea? The Rapha aerosuit isn't really a competition suit - it's got short sleeves and three pockets. Like some of the castelli suites it's a jersey+bibs alternative.

I find it the most comfortable cycling outfit I own and doesn't feel uncomfortable to stand in (or loose when riding).

  • Definitely racing.

    Probably brilliant for cross.

I would thought it awesome for UK racing.

It's climbing days it doesn't work for. Where you overheat on the way up due to lack of breeze over your chest.

  • @miro_o is probably right

  • I'm S in PT stuff and the same for the suite.

  • I have a short sleeved tri suit that is like this.
    Super comfy.

I can't get my head around being naked under a thin onsie though. Feels very odd.

  • See through lightweight bibs and a fully open fluoro jersey is fine though.....

  • My neck arms shoulders and waist is a good fit and looks mint when standing straight up. But when tucked, the bottom needs to remove 1.5-2 inches of the zipper, it's all bunched up. Short torso...

  • Wouldn't have thought a two part aero suit would be particularly good for cross, isn't one of the points of wearing a skinsuit stopping sand and grit from working its way inside?

  • Given the duration and intensity of cross races, you're probably best off with a normal base layer, short sleeve Jersey and arm warmers when it's cold.

In wet races it's better to have dry, warm clothes to change into after.

  • So similar to cross then, low speeds, high intensity?

  • I run in a windproof base.
Figured cross would be more like that.

....but with a bike on your shoulder.

Works perfectly for evening Z2 training, racing, or coastal cruising. Anywhere windchill is the major factor.

  • You really have to question their definition of "small" - what sort of giant would constitute a large?

  • I guess base layers stretch so a tighter fit is preferable?

  • It was the wetter stuff I was thinking about.....
I was probably pushed that way because of yesterday's weather reminding me of the last time I rode up York's Hill and nearly drowned. And it was "only 40 quid".

Sounds like I'd not get enough use to justify it.

  • I think I've only ever ridden four cross races where it's rained from start to finish. It's much rarer than you'd think.

Even at Wivelsfield Farm last year, I didn't really notice the rain once the race was underway and you had to ford a raging torrent every lap.

  • Good to know. I'll save the money towards new shoes instead.

    White ones for cross yeah?
