I would go out to ride but I haven't got a stitch to where.

Do Rapha do in-store exchanges for online purchases? CBA to parcel things up when I pretty much cycle past the shop everyday.
-
• #16829
Don't think so.

Do people wear merino baselayers under jerseys even at these ~20C temps?
-
• #16831
I sometimes do because its the only base layer I own; they work .. why though?

Saw someone yesterday in full length winter bibs, a jersey and arm warmers. It was 25 degrees...

• #16833
some people have circulation issues..

Like Dammit.

I ask cos I wore one yesterday and was boiling, but I don't know if I'd have been just as boiling without

Yes they do. Take your documents with you for a like-for-like exchnage (same product, different size/colour).
If you want to make an exchange that is not like-for-like then you'll need to do it online as a refund and new order.

^^ If you mean the normal baselayer, then yes, you would likely to be slightly less boiling.
-
• #16838
Bullshit. I wore the normal baselayer yesterday for 200km hilly at over 25km/h average speed.
-
• #16839
I didn't wear a baselayer on that 200k cause I would be boiling, perhaps some run hotter than other (like I and rogan).

You wear merino to cool down. Sheep wear merino in summer as well otherwise they get roasted.
-
• #16841
Base layers are designed to keep you cool (by wicking moisture away) as well as warm Ed.
Edit: What fussballclub said.

Hmmm true but the sheep are not doing much strenuous activity apart from mouth movements. Personally I think a merino baselayer under a jersey on a day like yesterday with hard riding must be overkill.
I rode yesterday a few miles with no baselayer and I was hot. Usually I would ride with a mesh baselayer under a jersey which can be ok, but merino? Especially if your jersey is also sportswool? Might try it one day...

LOL srsly.
Sheep don't ride bikes. And no one "wears merino to cool down".

I tried wearing a merino t-shirt in Thailand. Total bullshit, doesn't cool you down a bit.
-
• #16846
T-shirt does not equal base layer. Base layers need to be absolutely skin tight.
-
• #16847
it was a tight fitting t-shirt and nicely soaked with sweat

Elite cyclists know base layers are as flexible as they are necessary. Keeping you cool in summer and warm in winter, Rapha’s Merino under vests wick moisture superbly and are extremely odour resistant.
Proven conclusively. If you don't accept this as proof Y U READ THREAD?

I don't even know what that is.
So much for rain all day! Bright sun and pretty warm out! Makes me wish I had made plans for today!
