New Pantani jersey out.
This is well worth a read, a well balanced and poignant piece on Pantani by Tom Southam;
It may not surprise anyone to know that I totally want this.
Interesting to learn that I share a cycling hero with Simon Mottram.
I'm glad Rapha are taking a balanced, reasonable and historically distanced view. When I bumped the Pantani thread on the anniversary of his death back in February and voiced similar opinions to Simon in his statement some people reacted like I'd just called for the canonisation of King Herod...

Nice.
Unfortunately for me and my wee heid, these new one size hats won't fit so I'll have to get this and the matching shorts instead.....

Not enough fabric in the world.

Yabba gabba do.

Really? I overheated in my long sleeve jersey, would have thought you'd melt in a Gabba

Rain Jacket doesn't last that long do they?
Kati got soaked in her, and she barely wear it.
-
• #16363
^^ yep surprisingly not overheating at all, but then I am only averaging 13mph as I take it slow on the fixed bike as its still a bit new for me.
Today was first wet ride so went even slower so no chance of me over heating.
-
• #16364
no, not really, they need constant reproofing
-
• #16365
I gave up on mine long ago. Once it's soaked through and clinging to you it's not even keeping you warm, just sweaty. Constant reproofing not worth the hassle.
Todays commute was in not-great standard club kit with assos armwarmers and leg warmers. I was wet, but warm. Life without Rapha shocker. -

^ yes, but how did you look?!
-
• #16367
Hardshell is the only totally waterproof jacket they make
-

That they definitely are, damn thing is like an oven though.

Really? I've found my (old, PS City) rain jacket to be fine, as long as it doesn't touch skin too much. Although I also don't wear it all that much

- 1 on the rain jacket.
Mine sticks to me like cling film, one sweaty beast.

My city wind jacket which is basically a thin piece of transparent plastic works pretty well in rain. Doesnt get sticky is pretty breathable and keeps majority of rain out.

Impulse bought some of the black GT gloves on Ebay for £45. Anybody use em/can comment on their efficacy?

I personally find them a little uncomfortable around the knuckle holes but otherwise good. I've found they've never "softened up" the way they're claimed to. £45 is alright to check them out, at full whack I wouldn't bother. They seem like they will last well, at least.
I have two friends who own them and swear by them, though. I think I might just be a bit fussy with mitts.

Awesome, thanks man! Figured I'd grab a slight bargain as I've been through about 4 pairs of gloves, all of which have ripped somewhere or other despite my ladylike hands.

No, these definitely seem very tough compared to mitts with synthetic / woven backs. They're 100% leather, no weak points. And they do look good.
I crumpled and ordered it and the matching cap.
