  • Must agree with skinny, have had Endura overshoes for a while now and find them fantastic value for money.

  • After a piddly 800km, my gt gloves disintergrated. So much for durable.

  • Mine have about 4k (miles) in them and they're fine.

What have you been doing to yours?

  • Just riding ;) going to be calling rapha towers in the new year and asking them to have a look. They shouldnt have come apart like this

  • Rapha mug for Christmas makes me king mamil in our house. It's nice.

  • Got a Rapha Bomber jacket for 11 quid in an Oxfam charity shop in Beckenham. Pretty good that is.

  • andyp is going to kill his missus

  • Lolz

  • I wore it over a long sleeved base layer, never felt too hot- however I was nursemaiding a slow puncture. If I'd been going a but faster it might have been different.

I find its too hot for me, even on the coldest days. I do have more natural insulation than you though. Considering selling mine.

Did you try and haggle them down a bit?

  • Don't think so... Was advertised in the newsletter I received last Friday

On my newsletter too, but the link seems to be disabled? I was going to refer a friend who wanted some less pricey niceness...

  • is hardshell made out of breathable material?

  • Hard shell is basically Goretex.

Wore it today as well- significantly warmer than yesterday but I was very happy/comfortable.

pretty much. Less breathable though. Has the same feel as my 2x layer GTX ski jacket. It's really nice, but I don't understand why they didn't put zip vents in the sleeves - would make it so much more versatile.

  • Hard shell is basically Goretex.

Thats a great piece of information if you're not trolling as I am thinking to move towards Gore Oxygen from Path for a better fit and my Path jacket is absolutely knackered with 3 years of usage and a major crash.

  • I've got a Gore Paclite jacket Amey - it's 6 years old and still going strong. Light enough to pack in a pocket, waterproof and as breathable as you can expect any waterproof jacket to be.

  • Why doesn't Rapha use Gore fabrics?*

    *but uses Primaloft (!?)

  • too mainstream? Thought so.

  • I have a Paclite North Face jacket, not cycling specific but really versatile and light. Vents under the sleeves too. Really pricey though.

I think Rapha doesn't use Goretex because it would cause the jackets to be 600£ if they want to keep their profit margin to its usual level.

  • because it's expensive - they would have to pay a licensing fee to use the fabrics.

  • Also AFAIK Gore is the same company (or sister/daughter company of) which owns the Gore-Tex trademark - so I doubt they want other companies in the cycling market using the fabric/brand.

It's quite likely that the Hardshell is made of a pretty identical fabric though, as the main patent on Gore-Tex has expired.

  • Considering selling mine.

I did. Put the cash towards my PTJ. Do not regret one little bit :-)

  • Mavic has Goretex cycling jackets though.

  • ^ probably paying through the nose for it.

Already got one on the cheap. I think they are OK, but a bit overrated by people here though - a few other clothing brands make similar products for less than half the cost.
Also - the pro fit thing is nonsense when the material stretches so much, I went up a size, the sleeves are big and the back of mine is quite baggy now.
