  • Nailed it nicely, most Rapha item may be too expensive for what they are (glove, socks etc.) but the bibs short is fucking amazing, especially the Classic.

  • Thankfully not me :-) but this is at the top of Polehill in Kent, the 'hotel7diner' is where the TNRC had brekkie after one of the overnight rides a couple of seasons back.

Good spot ye olde git. It was raining then too.

Merry Christmas to you and the family.

  • Yeah, what ed and Hugo said. Not so mad on buying Rapha accessories but things like bibs and jackets, especially the PTJ, can't be competed with by cheaper options, or direct price competitors IMO.

  • With a username of 'koolhuntr' we obviously have to pay high regard to the poster's views on branding and marketing, otherwise we might not reach the heady heights of kool that he has obviously reached.

  • koolhuntr, would you go as far as saying that it's nice, but pricey?

  • don't feed the troll

  • (...) things like (...) jackets (...) can't be competed with (...) direct price competitors IMO.

The £170 classic wind jacket has the breathability of a £15 Decathlon job.
I'm sure the PTJ is very nice but how many other jackets have you actually owned and put miles in to allow for such a statement?

  • Hard shell. Completely weatherproof and the fit is amazing. Rain jacket, very waterproof, light, can pack down small and again, the for is very good.

Anyway, I didn't mean all jackets. I was pretty much just using the PTJ as an example.

  • I have the rain jacket. Excellent water proof ness qualities but it's bloody toasty.

Are rapha doing a jan sale?

  • Bikeradar got the Rapha PTJ in orange for those who wonder how it look;

  • Looks like a seventies orange Opel Rekord to me.

  • Tempted by the classic bibs.... Anyone got any sizing advice? I'm 6ft 1 and about 65-70 kilos (give or take all this turkey).

Emailed and was recommended medium, but have large versions of other bibs (giordana longs and Louis garneau shorts) so would like to hear from anyone who has a pair.

Also, is there likely to be a sale?

    Ta!

  • Classic sizing is very generous, I'm 6", 75kg and wear a Large.

  • Thanks Ed will bear that in mind

  • I'm a couple of inches taller than Ed, about a kilo heavier and wear Medium.

  • Classic sizing is very generous, I'm 6", 75kg and wear a Large.

I never thought to allow for penis size.

  • Ironic, considering your username...

  • Anyone know if there is a sale this year?

  • There's always a sales, give it time.

  • My M&S merino socks work great. I'm happy to be proved wrong, but not really sure Rapha ones are x3 better.

Glad it's not just me. I have Rapha socks, they are nice but they aren't a patch on M&S merino socks for warmth. Not pricey at all either.

  • Ironic, considering your username...

    You have a dirty mind.

  • I was lucky enough to get a Hardshell jacket for Christmas, it seemed just about perfect for today's freezing fog/2 degree conditions.

  • ^ I tried on the gold hardshell and it's a beautiful bit of kit. Jealous. Is it as insanely hot as people say?

I got the gold long sleeve jersey for Christmas. Now just got to wait for it to warm up or massively HTFU then I can wear it.

  • I wore it over a long sleeved base layer, never felt too hot- however I was nursemaiding a slow puncture. If I'd been going a but faster it might have been different.

  • where's this boxing day sale, rapha, ya shitehawks
