armwarmers under windbreaker must be very very warm and wet. any wool long sleeve with a gilet will get you through most of the south uk winter so the ptj will work. A winter base layer over a normal one helps loads too and if you are sensitive to flapping outer layers.
Or do what countless posters in this thread has done and get a pro team jacket instead of the jersey and ride that with a baselayer.
This.
Can Velocio engineer for this post to pop-up before all replies from now onwards?

Embro on crotch?! You must be kidding me right?
I know I failed epically. I thought it was something you rubbed on to keep you warmish, didn't realise it would feel like taking a hot iron to your balls.

All that waffa gear you had, and you still did that?
Oh dear...! :0)

Oh my,
I'm in tears. You should definitely contact Rapha returns department with that story. They will send you ten years supply of the stuff just to keep us entertained.BTW. Don't feel bad. How the f*** are you supposed to know?

What does a rucksack every day on the commute do to the transfer jacket?
-
• #14786
Don't put embroication cream on your rucksack
-
• #14787
No way, embroication only for sensitive grand tour gloves leather.

the lightweight cap, any opinions?
I need a xmas pressie for a very bald and sweaty old man who only cycles in a warm and humid climate. He needs a head cover to stop his head from sunburn and cotton caps get saturated pretty quickly.any alternatives to the rapha one?

So i took the PTJ dive.
I sold my classic softshell that i used since last year on Craigslist for $325CAD, and bought the new PTJ for $325CAD lol :D
Went for a size small PTJ from a size medium softshell.
My size medium race cape fits perfectly over a merino base layer + PTJ.
we'll see how it performs tomorrow

Met these guys on a train a few months back: http://www.ashmei.com/
Apparently they're going to start a cycling line which is going to 'piss all over rapha', allegedly higher quality AND a higher price (they were quite proud of this bit). -

Thought it was a bit chilly today so decided to try Rapha's winter embro which I thought would warm me up a bit. I applied some generously around my crotch area. Little did I know this stuff burns so bad, it felt like my crotch was on fire so I spent about fifteen minutes trying to cool my burning loins with the hairdryer on cool setting. It was quite painful, even now 4 hours after being applied my thighs are still burning hot. Maybe it's just me, but damn that stuff is strong. Will be applying less next time and far away from my crotch.
Hahahahahahaha, pmsl. Bless you Hunter, for your honesty and for reminding me that, in spite of your superhuman powers of purchasing and acquisition and your tiny body and huge feet, you are still human!!!!

Quality looking gear, but just a Rapha copy for running really, homepage and signature stripe is not dissimilar to waffa at all. Two sports aren't that similar, don't see people running round in 12 grand of running shoes, so probably gonna seem more expensive compared to the rest of your running kit. They'll need to lock down the high end running gear market before they spread themselves thinly into cycling. Finally, when they branch into cycling, they'll need enough capital to support 'grass roots' and pro cycling like Rapha and to get a high street/boutique/coffee shop presence not web only, this will make them feel local, like a local bike shop. And that is a fuck of a lot of jerseys to shift to get to there, so yeah, they may eventually out-Rapha Rapha, but not before 2023 xx

Castelli do a summer skull cap. I use it under helmet to stop head getting sweat in the eyes.

JERSEY HELP PLEASE!!
Want a new long sleeve for xmas, a good all rounder for Autumn and Spring (and winter if I HTFU)... am thinking either Pro team or standard long sleeve.
I have the PT Jacket and it's pretty much the greatest thing ever, are the PT Jerseys equally awesome? Do they offer much warmth (particularly with comparison to the normal long sleeves)? And is there much difference in fit?

^ I just got the standard long sleeve Jersey and so far i'm over the moon with it. I reckon it'll be a great all year round jersey!

I do like the look of the gold or purple one I must admit. What colour did you go for?

Dark Fig
If you, like me, want the Pro Team Jacket to fit like an aero jersey, I'd stay the same size. The Pro Team Jacket is a little roomier than the Pro Team Jersey (of course).
